Question about 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder

1 Answer

My radio code needed to be entered, I didn't have the original codes, through your website I was told to try "0000" or "1234", I did so and received 3 errors, now I am not able to start my car, the security system shut me down. How can I get my car started without having to call the dealership?

Yes, it worked prior to me trying to reset the radio code. I have already called the dealership to come pick it up. I was trying to save $30 and now it will cost me $120. Lesson learned. lol Thank you though.

hi tam , if you will leave the ignition key on for 1 hour with the radio on in its locked up mode , after the 1 hour it will clear up and allow you 3 more attempts at entering the code , when the display reads CODE again , see if the car will at least start again . i haven't got a hold of my mitz tech buddy yet , lunch time , but did the car run before but you just didn't have the radio functions ?

U should have gone to the dealer in the 1st place, the codes u entered have triggered the anti-theft shut down programming, so u kind of did this to yourself, the dealer is now the best if not only option. Be very leary of anyone giving these codes on the net, very seldom do they work.

Your vehicle's audio system may disable itself if it is disconnected from electrical power for any reason.
To make it work again, you must enter a specific five-digit code with the preset buttons.
Because there are hundreds of number combinations possible from the five
digits, making the system work without knowing the exact code is nearly impossible.

You should have received a radio code card that lists your audio system's code and serial numbers. {glove box find}
It is best to store this card in a safe place at home. In addition, you should write the audio system's serial number in this owner's

manual.

If you lose the card, you must obtain the code number from your dealer.
To do this, you will need the audio system's serial number.

If your vehicle's battery is disconnected or goes dead, or the radio
fuse is removed, the audio system will disable itself. If this happens,
you will see ''ENTER CODE'' in the frequency display (on the screen on models with navigation system) the next time you turn on the

system.
Use the preset buttons to enter the five-digit code. The code is on the radio code card included in your owner's manual kit.
When it is entered correctly, the radio will start playing.

If you make a mistake entering the code, do not start over; complete the
five-digit sequence, then enter the correct code. You have 10 tries to enter the correct code.
If you are unsuccessful in 10 attempts, you
must then leave the system on for 1 hour before trying again.

The system will retain your AM and FM presets even if power is disconnected. {only on newer cars'

Radio only says "off"...I need

Call any volvo dealership, speak to someone in service dept, give them the vin# off your vehicle and they will provide the 4 digit code for resetting the radio. Also I was told after receiving the code that if the radio says "Off" to insert the key in the ignition and turn it to the"on" position (don't start the engine up) and leave this way for 2 hours with the radio turn on but still saying Off on the screen. Then after 2 hours the screen should say "Code" and that is when you can enter your code in. The reason it says "Off" is because the invalid code has been entered in too many times. Also with my radio there is a tab on both sides of the radio that you can push in to release the radio. The tabs will come forward and you can grab onto them to pull the radio out. My radio had the new code wrote on the sticker with the serial number on the it. Alot of infomation. Hope some of it helps you.

My daughter received a mercedes 1990 from her grandfather, the radio does not work. He felt it was because the car battery had died. How do we re-set and get it to work?

you need the security code(4 digits). It should be in the black owners manual case. After you enter it press the * symbol. You can also go to the dealer and show proof of ownership and they can get it with the v.i.n. assuming it is the original radio. You can also remove the radio and give them the serial number and they can get you a code if it has been replaced. If the security code is the problem when the radio is turned on it will say code. If it shows a station number and there is no sound try replacing the fadar switch in the console that is another common failure. good luck

I assume you have this unlocked by now, but here's an answer for someone else for the future :-)
if you have the original radio that come with the car, look in the wheel well in the trunk, where the spare tire goes. (yep, you'll need to stand on your head). there is a sticker that will have the 4-digit code on it.
enter that into the radio.
I can't remember off the top of my head which one it is, but either the >> Scan or the am/fm button will be the "enter key"

Radio reset

If you don't have the code, you probably will have to pay a dealer to get it for you. My dealer said it was on the back of the radio and he had to remove it to find it. I have no idea if this is true.

As to the other problem of entering the code 3 times, and it now showing "off" instead. Simply put your ignition in the accessory position for approximately one hour. "Code" will magically reappear.

This applies to the 2000 Gallant. My code is 7357 if you wish to try it.

If you're talking about the Anti-Theft Security code for your radio, I'm fairly sure that only a BMW Dealership would be able to retrieve and reset the radio.

You could also try disconnecting the battery terminals for 10-20 minutes, and see if it resets.
