Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) Vent System Performance
The EVAP system tests run when the engine is first started and meets the Conditions for Running the DTC. An intermittent condition could be caused by a damaged EVAP vent housing, a temporary blockage at the EVAP canister vent inlet, or a pinched vent hose. A blockage in the vent system will also cause a poor fuel fill condition.An EVAP canister, vent hose, or vent solenoid valve that has restricted flow may cause this DTC to set. Using a purge solenoid command with a scan tool will allow vacuum to be applied to the system instead of pressure. With the engine running, the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve open and the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve commanded to 100 percent, the fuel tank vacuum should not increase to more than 5 inches H2O.An EVAP canister filter that is restricted can cause this DTC to set. Refer to Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Filter Replacement and Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Cleaning .Disconnecting one component at a time while the EVAP system is under flow will help to pinpoint a restriction in the system.Reviewing the Failure Records vehicle mileage since the diagnostic test last failed may help determine how often the condition that caused the DTC to be set occurs. P1448 NISSAN - EVAP Canister Vent Control Valve Open
Possible causes- EVAP control system pressure sensor and the circuit - Blocked rubber tube to EVAP canister vent control valve - EVAP canister vent control valve - Water separator - EVAP canister is saturated with waterWhen is the code detected?EVAP canister vent control valve remains open under specified driving conditions.
P0455 - Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (no purge flow or large leak)
This indicates a fuel vapor leak or lack of purge flow in the EVAP control system. It means a large leak has been detected. The (EVAP) emission control system prevents the escape of fuel vapors from a vehicle's fuel system. Fuel vapors are routed by hoses to a charcoal canister for storage. Later, when the engine is running a purge control valve opens allowing intake vacuum to siphon the fuel vapors into the engine.
Symptoms: You likely won't notice any drivability problems.
Causes: A code p0455 most likely means one or more of the following has happened: A loose or improperly affixed gas cap A non-conforming gas cap (i.e. not factory/original brand) Other leak or damaged piece in EVAP system
Possible Solutions: With a p0455, the most common repair is to: Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the codes, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back. Otherwise, replace the gas cap, and/or Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses (you may hear a vacuum noise or smell fuel), repair if necessary
What was the reason given for replacing the canister? Was it a trouble code that showed up on a scanner, and if so what was the code. It doesn't seem plausible that a 2005 model vehicle would need a new evap canister. I think the only way the canister would affect the driving characteristics of your vehicle is if it was damaged and had a bad vacuum leak.
Ramon P0420 relates to the catalytic converter. The computer sees little or no improvement in the exhaust before and after going through the converter. Either your oxygen sensors need replacement (3 total) or you need a new catalytic converter. What is the mileage on the vehicle? Does it run well? Oxygen sensors generally start to fail after 70,000 miles. Catalytic converters usually fail because the engine is runnig rich and the owner ignores that fault for months. This causes the catalytic converter to overheat and fail.
P1456 relates to the evaporative emission system. This system holds the gas fumes in the system so they are not vented to the atmosphere. The most common cause of this code being set is failing to properly tighten the gas cap after refueling. Take the cap off and clean the sealing O-ring. Put it back on and tighten till it clicks 3 times. Make sure you have the correct gray colored gas cap. Clear the code and see if it resets within a few days. If it does, try replacing the gas cap.
