Hello you are looking at, the abs control pump.
It`s very rarely the pump failing, but probably a wheel censor
that must be changed. There is one for each wheel. When this problem occur, the abs system is malfunctioning, because the resistance in the censor is changed, and the system can`t find it`s normal function. Basicly it`s hard to determin what exact cencor is failing, and only BMW can find the problem, because the system ecu has to be set to reset to default. when the fault is repaired.
The car could be dangerous to drive in, because the abs system and the anti skid, esp, etc, is not working before the fault is repaired.

The repair is not that expensive, but an unautoriced repair shop, with speciality in bmw, is always cheaper, try to find a shop you can trust and with a good repair history.

Good luck

There is really no way to know how much finding an electrical short in an electrical system will cost. You should probably go around and get some estimates, but, as you know, anything that needs repairing on a Beamer will be expensive!

SOURCE: My 2001 silverado's Security Light is staying on.

You probably need a new key switch. If your keys are really worn, they may need to be replaced also. The security system checks the key to see if it is correct. If not correct, power is not turned on to fuel pump.

this post is confusing, sorry
ESP/ABS is a very complex system.
why are you attempting to out guess such a system.
let them fix it.
or buy a car with no ESP. or ABS.

good luck keeping any chapter 11 company car going

I have one, but when it gets harder, off a cliff it goes
or sell it, busted.
I can fix most things, but not with out parts.

back to your high tech magic like brakes.
1: let them fix it
2: DIY

to DIY you need the special and expensive scan tool.
and the expensive FSM (factory serv. man.)
or go to alldata d o t com and read it all there.
all the steps to diagnosis this is there and in the book.
no need to guess, or wonder its all there.
(assumes you read up on ABS first, not withstanding)

cheers and good luck with ABS.
why not clean all the wheel sensors first. why not?'

Hey I have a 98 volvo v90 wagon. I replaced rotors pads calipers and hoses from brake lines to calipers on the front. Now my abs light is on and when I brake only sometimes I can feel the brakes pulsating....

Hey man The ABS light is most likely a speed sensor out of range. It will not effect normal braking function. You have already spent a ton of money. Chasing an ABS light fault is not cost effective and you wont feel the difference. ABS problems are a dealer only option(expensive). Take that ABS bulb out of the dash and forget about it.

Abs light is on in the swich board

First there is no magic fix for this, generally you need a OBD 11 scanner to identify the fault. Auto Zone I am told do this service for free and tell you what the fault is.
There are however some things that you can check yourself first.
Check your brake fluid levels in the master cylinder.
Check your fuses to make sure that none are faulty.
Check that the wiring connectors to the ABS pressure pump system are properly connected and not corroded.
Check under the car at the four inside wheel hubs that the ABS wheel sensors are in securely in place and that the wires are properly attached and not damaged or lose. Most ABS faults are from the wheel sensors.
Check the wheel bearings to make sure that they do not have any play. This will result in the wheel sensor showing a fault.

Average cost to repair the ABS on a Lincoln Mark VIII.

Im sure it will be expensive ,,All cars will resort back to the base brake system, just like a car that didn't have abs so it should be ok as long as there are no fluid leaks in the brake system.

Abs warning light but which sensor is a fault? Have a '99 Vauxhall Sintra 2.2 Diesel (European diesel version of the Chevy Venture) with ABS warning light on and need to fix the problem. However, don't...

I'm sorry to say that on your ABS system there is no cheap or do-it-yourself procedures.
You will need to take to a dealer or a independent garage to have it checked by a technician, he will have to scan the system because there's a lot more than just the wheel sensors that can cause your problem

No, absolutely not, although the EBCM might possibly be the problem, it is a costly item and 95% of the time is replaced for nothing. Make sure to get the system diagnosed properly, if he can't get a reading from the diagnostic machine, check the abs (EBS) fuse(s), it (they) might be burnt. Then check for fluid level and fluid leaks in the brake system. If these are OK, get the wiring checked to the EBCM for powers, grounds, and data (diagnostics).
