What are the torque specs for a front wheel bearing?

if its not a drive axle and only has a castle nut with a cotter pin , then regrease the wheel bearings and run nut all the way in to its hand wrench tight (not impact gun), turn wheel one or two full turns to seat it , then back castle nut off two spaces and install cotter pin , this s\is std way to set proper spacing on wheel bearings

if its a drive axle consult your cars model and make and year torque specs book

I just did the wheel bearings on my 1985 ford f 150 2 wd i need to find out what the torque is for the nut that holds my wheel bearings and brake rotor on thank you very much

  • There is not a torque speck for that.

  1. Just thread the adjuster into the spindle and tighten real good with a ratchet.
  2. Then rotate the wheel forward to seat them bearings real good.
  3. Give it another tighten then back that adjuster nut off 1/8 of a turn.
  4. Then put the nut lock washer on over the adjuster nut and put a cotter pin in the hole.

  • Your lug nuts are torqued at 100ft lbs though.

IF YOU HAVE 4WD YOU WILL HAVE TO REPLACE BEARINGS.NOT ADJUSTABLE. IF YOU HAVE A 2WD YOU WILL REMOVE COTTER PIN AND LOOSEN THE SPINDLE NUT.SPIN THE WHEEL FORWARD BY HAND THE TORQUE NUT TO 12 FT LBS TO SEAT BEARING.THEN BACK OFF NUT 1/4 TO 1/2 TURN TO UNTIL HOLE IN SPINDLE LINE UP WITH SLOT IN NUT.THEN INSTALL A NEW COTTER PIN.
