Your water pump is on its way out. If your timing chain is due replace them together. Chances are it will just be a minor weep just keep an eye on coolent level and temp until you can get replaced and don't plan any long drives.

SOURCE: leaking coolant

that would ba a big negative the only thing that runs inside that cover is oil now it could be either your water pump or thermostat housing if either one is near that cover the best thing to do is wash down the engine when its cold and once all clean run it and just sit and wait itll show up.. but to answer your question no.. no such thing as coolant in the timing cover

SOURCE: leaking coolant from crank seal on 1991 toyota sr5

THE WATER PUMP HAS A WEAP HOLE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE HOUSING THAT INDICATES PUMP FAILURE BY LEAKING WHEN THE PUMP NEEDS REPLACING. IT IS TIME TO REPLACE THE WATER PUMP. IN ADDITION YOU MAY WANT TO REPLACE THE TIMING BELT AS WELL WHEN YOU REMOVE THE TIMING COVER AND CRANKSHAFT PULLEY. I HOPE THIS CLARIFIES ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA AND FOR ANY COMMENTS YOU WISH TO SHARE. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED. GOOD LUCK

It is in the front area of the engine, behind the timing cover and timing chain. You must remove the oil pan, timing cover, timing chain and tensioner to access it.

Coolant leak... have a pretty bad coolant leak that looks like its behind my timing chain cover... need to add like a gallon of water a day in it... just had the water pumped and thermostat changed......

If you really mean behind the timing chain cover than perhaps the
chain has worn through it which does make for a leak. Probably not the answer you want to hear but not an uncommon problem.
