Question about 2001 Ford Taurus
Ran the small spare on the left front of car for a month
Never use spare as a full time replacement, its unsafe, only good for 25 mph, probably screwed something up, should have been used to only get you to repairshop that day, never do that again, ever. this ones on you dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What was said about the wear of the front end part when the alignment was given? I could be wrong but, I would say, Not likely for the tie rod ends and definately not the shocks for knocking sounds.. It sounds more like bad ball joints poping, although the idler arm and tye rod ends could be worn also .

It is true that driving with different size tires can damage the transfer case, depending on how long it was driven like that. But--- even if the tires are the same size it can cause this. if the tires are worn and two tires are new the circumference of the tires must not be more than 1/2 inch difference from each other, take a tape measure and put it around the tire in the center and measure the difference of each tire
