Intall Remote Keyless Entry System in an 02 Honda Accord

I bought an 02 Honda Accord. I need to use keys manually to open doors. It has power locks. I want to install remote keyless entry system. I called the dealer. They said it can not be done on the car.

I have seen 99 model cars having remote keyless entry. Why cant it be done ? Is is because it is too expensive ? or did I get wrong information ?

Will the whole affair cost me something below 500$ if it needs to be done ?

I see in some web site that they sell an explicit remote keyless entry system and that does not seem expensive. Even if it takes 2 hrs to install it will be 180 $ + component price .... and hopefully that should not be too expensive if it can be done right ?

So it is possible and do-able right ? Thanks.

I wanted to get it done and I called up the nearby honda dealer and they said it cant be done and I was very confused. thanks.

You got the Wrong Information! Go to Wal Mart and Purchase a "Bulldog Security Keyless Entry" System for your Car. It will cost you a Quarter of the Price and is Just asw Reliable as the Factory Unit! Got one on My Truck with Remote Start also and it works GREAT! Should cost about $50.00 Bucks or so.

I have a 96 ford conversion van with a 600 plus addon keyless system and need to program new keyless remots , need to know how to get system in program mode.

Hi.

To program ( or reprogram ) a keyless entry remote transmitter into the remote keyless entry module, perform the following steps:

1. Turn the key to ON or ACC and short the two terminals of the program connector, a two-pin connector located below the driver's side of the instrument panel at the base of the steering column. All doors should lock and then unlock.
2. Press any button on each keyless entry remote transmitter in turn. All doors should lock and then unlock. If the door locks do not respond, press the button again (up to three times maximum with the same keyless entry remote transmitter). If the door locks still fail to respond, go to Pinpoint Test A.
3. Repeat Step 2 to program additional keyless entry remote transmitters into the remote keyless entry module (up to four keyless entry remote transmitters maximum).
4. Turn key off.
5. Remove the short from the program connector. All doors should lock and then unlock.
6. Verify that the keyless entry remote transmitters have been successfully programmed by pressing the LOCK or UNLOCK button on each one, and observing that the system responds by locking and/or unlocking the doors.

I hope this helps you.

Thanks!

Power door locks do not work with keyless remote control

There are two multiplex control units - one on the driver side and one onthe passenger side - which one did you unplug? The one on the driver side is the main "Brain" while the other one is the one that houses the keyless reciever. According to the service manual, any troubleshooting of this system must begin with the one on the driver side. It can get quite involved because Honda does not provide actual troubleshooting (symptom) charts, just descriptions of the electrical connectors and what conditions should be present at each conector pin under what system condition. (each pin has to be tested to determine what is malfunctioning) The system is not capable of outputting fault codes of any kind.

I just bought a 1994 Accord EX and it only came with one key, i notice that everything is powered. How can i get a set of keyless entry remotes without going to the dealer?

you can go to someplace like best buy or any audio store that sells and installs alarms and remote starts you will probably have to install a remote start to get the keyless entry feature.

Can't program Second remote to my Ford Explorer 99

reading your post you mention to "open and close switch"..not sure what refering to...these are the instructions from your vehicles service manual...good luck!

Programming NOTE: All keyless entry remote transmitters (15K601) are programmable and must be set at the same time.
NOTE: To program (or reprogram) the keyless entry remote transmitters into the RAP module, perform the following steps:
  1. Make sure that the anti-theft system is not armed or triggered.
  1. Turn the ignition switch (11572) from OFF to RUN eight times within ten seconds, ending in RUN. If the RAP module has successfully entered program mode, it will lock and then unlock all doors.
  1. Press any button on a keyless entry remote transmitter, and the doors will lock and then unlock to confirm that each keyless entry remote transmitter has been programmed.
  1. If the door locks do not respond for any keyless entry remote transmitter, wait several seconds and press the button again. If the door locks still fail to respond, refer to Diagnosis and Testing.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, or wait up to 20 seconds after step 2, to exit program mode. If a keyless entry remote transmitter has been programmed (or reprogrammed), the RAP module will lock and unlock all doors one last time to confirm.

Keyless entry on honda civic 2006 not working

The keyless entry is designed to work with the doors closed (closed - not locked). If the door ajar sensor thinks the door is open the keyless entry is disabled. When you manually lock the door it might tighten the door just enough to activate the keyless entry. I would try slamming all the doors closed and then see if the keyless entry works. If it still wont work have the wiring checked on the front door lock.

Hold both buttons the Open and the Lock on your remote key for about 60 seconds, it should turn the lights inside the car and the problem should be fixed.
It worked on my Honda Accord 2004
