One night it was real cold out started and drove half mile down the road and the lights started to die and the car died and started back up a couple more times but just died, checked the alternator and starter both fine, please help!

This may be due to the antitheft system. GM's are notorious for these parts failing. When it dies again, look for a light that says "security" somewhere on the dash. If you see this light, this link should help you.
wow if your battery is that old i would get a different one but you can have the battery and alternator tested for free at a auto parts store they can tell you if its junk or not but thats why your having them problems when your alternater spins it charges the battery if the battery is no good it wont hold a charge and you car will die now it the alternater is bad it will not keep the battery charged and your car will die.
your fuel gauge may be reading inncorect so you may be real low on fuel which explain why it try to cut off around corners or you have an idle air valve problem have thecodes scanned to see what the malifunction is
I had a problem with no start on 97 skylark. The anti theft light would come on. I would have to leave the key in the on position, then maybe it would think the key was the right key and I wasn't a thief. Column lock cylinder was changed as well as ignition switch (didn't solve the problem). Turned out to be a part in the instrument cluster. I'm in AZ and plastic parts crumble after a few years.
