if this is an older truck like mine the slave cylinder is internal, inbettween the trns housing and the bell housing. go under driver side of vehicle, stick your arm up in bettween the trans tunnel and the trans where the line comes down and you should feel the end of the line and the bleeder valve for the slave cylinder. at the bottom of the line there will be a clip, if u cant grab it, get something with a strong hook on the end, hook the clip and pull, ( tip) watch out for the fluid comming out it will hurt if you get that in your eyes.

How to diagnose whether the clutch master or slave cylinder is my problem on 2002 ford focus 2.0 liter.Clutch pedal goes to the floor with no resistance.Brake master has fluid.

could be either
the problem is air in the hydraulic system either form a leaking slave cylinder or a faulty master cylinder admitting air on application or bypassing oil on application
you have to first check that it is hydraulic operation as the brake master cylinder may have fluid but that is a separate system to the clutch
check that it is not cable operation in which case it will be a broken cable
after the simple check , if it is a hydraulic system , replace both slave and master cylinder as they both wear out together and if it is cable replace the cable

I have a 2003 ford escape that the clutch goes to the floor & doesnt return up. But there is no leaks at any points of the slave cylinder point up to the master cylinder??

slave cylinder/hydraulic throwout bearing or master cylinder can internally bypass... suspect master cylinder but always check all components before hanging parts because it could also be as bad as a damaged clutch assy...

Cant locate clutch cylinder 1988 Honda accord lx 5 speed trasmssion

If it is a hydraulic clutch, and not cable operated, there will be two cylinders. A clutch master cylinder will be mounted on the firewall next to the brake master cylinder. One steel line will go from the master cylinder down to the slave cylinder bolted onto the transmission housing where the clutch lever extends out of the housing. Other than bleeding the slave cylinder, no adjustments are necessary on hydraulic clutches. Cable operated clutches have an adjusting mechanism to take up slack when the clutch disc wears. The adjuster will be inside the engine bay.

How do i bleed the brakes on a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am?

Bleeding the Brake System
When any part of the hydraulic system has been disconnected for repair or
replacement, air may get into the lines and cause spongy pedal action (because
air can be compressed and brake fluid cannot). To correct this condition, it is
necessary to bleed the hydraulic system so to be sure all air is purged.

When bleeding the brake system, bleed one brake cylinder at a time, beginning
at the cylinder with the longest hydraulic line (farthest from the master
cylinder) first. ALWAYS Keep the master cylinder reservoir filled with brake
fluid during the bleeding operation. Never use brake fluid that has been drained
from the hydraulic system, no matter how clean it is.

The primary and secondary hydraulic brake systems are separate and are bled
independently. During the bleeding operation, do not allow the reservoir to run
dry. Keep the master cylinder reservoir filled with brake fluid.

  1. Clean all dirt from around the master cylinder fill cap, remove the cap and
fill the master cylinder with brake fluid until the level is within 1/4 I n.
(6mm) of the top edge of the reservoir.
  2. Clean the bleeder screws at all 4 wheels. The bleeder screws are located on
the top of the brake calipers.
  3. Attach a length of rubber hose over the bleeder screw and place the other
end of the hose in a glass jar, submerged in brake fluid.
  4. Starting at the right rear proceed in this order left front, left rear and
    right front.
  5. Open the bleeder screw 1/2 - 3/4 turn. Have an assistant slowly depress the
    brake pedal.
  6. Close the bleeder screw and tell your assistant to allow the brake pedal to
return slowly. Continue this process to purge all air from the system.
  7. When bubbles cease to appear at the end of the bleeder hose, close the
bleeder screw and remove the hose.
  8. Check the master cylinder fluid level and add fluid accordingly. Do this
    after bleeding each wheel.
  9. Fill the master cylinder reservoir to the proper level.
