SOURCE: 1999 Saturn SL1 - trouble starting, like it's

You've actually diagnosed your own problem. It essentially is flooded and that is because your Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECTS) is bad and telling the PCM that the engine is -40F (40 degrees below zero).

Replace the stock plastic one which cracks with a new brass one found at Autozone or the like. It's a 10 minute job and requires a 13MM deep well socket.

SOURCE: when I start the 98

Have you tried replacing the O2 sensor and having your fuel injectors cleaned and checked? It sounds like it could be a fuel problem / emissionsproblem.

I have 1995 5.8 Bronco. Startturn off. Come back in few minutes won't start, but will wait for 10 minutes or so and then starts fine...until turn off again. Solenoid?

By suggesting solenoid I guess you mean it will not even crank. Heat soak can make solenoid act this way. If it cranks but will not start, I suspect leaky fuel injector(s) flooding engine.

Onwants to stall when first starting when cold out

When the coolant temp.sensor fails it causes the engine to flood and be slow to start.Turn it off and it will restart normally. Change the sensor. The engine will start normally and fuel mileage will improve.

My 2002 nisaan sentra starts fine on most days every now and then the car will flood while trying to start cant figure it out any solutions

When it does this have you check to see if you have spark at your plugs. The problem could be numerous things that can cause this so we need to narrow down the search. Also how do you know it's flooding? Do you smell gas? Does it take a long time before it starts? Does it run rough at first then smooths out? Do you hear the fuel pump turn on when you turn the key in the start position? And when it does this does it start when you hold the pedal to the floor? If you can give anymore details it would be appreciated. Is the engine light on also?

Have put new mechanical pump and filter on went well for two days then reverted back to taking forever to start whilst just about flooding it by pumping the hell out of the accelerator, Have been told to...

before buying the carburetor kit, have a look at the plugs. clean the carbon from the tips and adjust the gaps properly since starting problems do have a link to proper functioning of the plugs & if they are old think of replacing them first

Engine Floods after brief start and run when cold -then shut off

Local mechanic determined engine was flooded and started it by holding throttle to the floor and cranking 5-7 seconds - then the engine sputtered to life. It has run perfectly before and since and I'm at a bit of loss to understand why this occurred this one time - so far. It's been driven now 5 days with no problems.

A common cause for this, asuming no check engine light, is a leaking fuel ressure regulator. When they fail, they leak fuel into the vacuum line causing a very rich condition- basically flooded.
