My 98 saturn is always flooded when i try to start it after its ran for 15 or 30 minutes

Its starts fine the frist time i start it for the day. but after i turn it off its like its flooding its self out when its off and its takes forever to get it to start back up. i have to hold the gas petal to the floor to get it started back and you can smell gas and see white smoke when it does finally start back up. can someone please help me find the cause of this problem?

SOURCE: 1999 Saturn SL1 - trouble starting, like it's

You've actually diagnosed your own problem. It essentially is flooded and that is because your Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECTS) is bad and telling the PCM that the engine is -40F (40 degrees below zero).

Replace the stock plastic one which cracks with a new brass one found at Autozone or the like. It's a 10 minute job and requires a 13MM deep well socket.

SOURCE: when I start the 98

Have you tried replacing the O2 sensor and having your fuel injectors cleaned and checked? It sounds like it could be a fuel problem / emissionsproblem.

Why is my 98 saturn alway flooded when i try to start it

Fel pressure regulator is bad, I'm sure. When you Turn off the car, pressure remains in the injector rail. The diaphram in the regulator allows that pressure to enter the engine through the vacuum line that controls it, and floods the engine. I am 99.9% sure this is your problem

97 Saturn sl2. Won't start after it gets warm. If you drive it for 15-20 minutes and try to restart it will not engage the starter. Wait a couple hours and it will start fine

It is your engine coolant temp sensor (ECTS). 99.9%. the saturn made them with a plastic tip, so they crack over time. A replacement should be about 15 bucks and not too hard to replace. You'll notice your engine temp gauge not working (always cold).

I don't know much about cars, but here's what happens. When your car is cold, the fuel runs rich. Your broken sensor is always reading that the engine is cold, but when it is warm, it runs too rich and floods your engine, not allowing it to start. When your engine is actually cold, everything is fine.

Help! I have 98 Saturn SL2 that was live one minute dead the next

Sounds exactly like my 1999 SL2 which had "burning and arching" in the fuse box. Car one day be fine the next I'd take it to the store, come back in 10 minutes and wouldn't start, no radio, no power windows, no keyless entry remote, no rear defrost and even locking doors from inside power buttons it sounded odd. This fixed the problem by replacing the fuse box.

6.5 tubbo diesel died and wont start back

Sounds like the fuel pump got air in the system. You may have to bleed out the air. Then it will run. Check the fuel tank for fuel first.
