jack up vehicle, remove tire. knock out old stud with a hammer and punch. put new stud in from back if need be. to draw it up tight.use a lug nut with something under it so when you tighten the nut it brings the stud into position. remove the nut you put on. and replace the tire. good-day! if the brakes and rotor are in the way. you will have to remove them to replace the wheel stud.
The pad drums of your 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan can wear with use. Heat buildup in the brakes can glaze, warp or crack the drum. If that happens, replacement of the drum is the only way to fix it. In most cases, you can remove the rear drums, replace them with a new set and leave the existing shoes on the van. Take a minute and inspect the brake shoes thoroughly while you have the drums off the van.
Loosen the lug nuts on the rear of your 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan with a lug wrench. Do not take them off the wheel studs.
Raise the rear of the van with a jack and support it on a set of jack stands. Place the stands under the rear suspension, making sure they are secure. Remove the lug nuts from the wheel studs and pull off the rear wheels.
Check the rear drum where the wheel studs come through for retaining clips. These are used during the manufacturing process; and if they are still on your van, they need to be removed. Pry the clip off the wheel stud with a flat head screwdriver and discard them. Most vehicles will have two clips on each brake drum.
Grasp the brake drum on the outer edges and pull it straight off the wheel studs and brake pads. Discard the old drum and slide the new drum into place, aligning the holes in the drum with the wheel studs. Push the drum in until it seats completely. Repeat the process on the opposite side of the van.
Position the wheel back on the wheel studs and install the lug nuts by hand. Raise the back of the van with a jack and remove the jack stands from under the suspension. Lower the van to the ground and tighten the lug nuts with a lug wrench.
I doubt it, You need to take the two nuts that hold the master cylinder to the booster off,pull out on the master cylinder until it clears the booster,but don't take any lines loose! Now go inside your van and remove the knee panel below the steering column,And then a metal plate behind that comes down next,After that reove the brake light switch connected to the brake pedal,it is held in place with a push pin and hair pin clip,remove the clip and then the pin,now you can remove the push rod that was connected to the pedal,Now look at the fire wall where you took the rod out ,you will see four nuts that make a square,two on the left and two on the right,straight up and down from each other,Remove these four nuts and go back out under hood and pull the booster out towards you.
You need to back off the transmission kickdown cable. It is located just beside your throttle cable near the air intake duct. You may have to remove the black plastic cover to gain access. Just back of the adjusting nuts about one quarter inch at a time until it operates correctly and lock them down at that point. Thank you, Dana
I have recently done this twice to my 2000 Grand Caravan with the 3.3l engine.
1) Remove the top plate which is attached to the alternator mounting bracket held in by 3 bolts.
2) remove the alternator bolts securing the altenator to the mounting bracket.
3) pry the alternator off the bottom mounting bracket
4) turn the alternator around show you can easily see the power wires on back of the alternator and remove the 11/32 nut holding the wire to the alternator. Be careful not to drop the nut behind the engine, because you probably will never find it (experienced).
5) Disconnect the wires from the alternator
6) Remove the black cooragated tube running vertical in front of the alternator and remove the tubes hold clip from the suspension wall.
7) Slide the alrernator pully first up through the opening. You may need to rotate the alternator a little so it fits up through.
Sorry but you'll have to buy a rebuilt from auto supplier, unless you wnat to go through the hassle of trying to get a bearing, by removing old one and getting bearing supplier to try & track one down for you. Possibly a place that rebuild them will sell you one, but I doubt it, (cutting his own throat) .
besides, you go through the hassle of replacing it, and then shortly after, something else gives up too, then you've basically wasted your time.
