This is somewhat of a "common" issue on the early L series. Saturn has updated the parts for this concern. What happens here is the blower motor draws excessive current and burns the resistors inside the the blower motor resistor card. See the diagram below:

HVAC - spacer.gif spacer.gif View Full Image spacer.gif
To access the blower motor you must open the hood, remove the wipers, the wiper cowl, the wiper transmission and the housing that retains the cabin filter, the blower comes up through the front cowl area, the picture above shows the blower unit under the dash as if you were standing under the hood looking down at it toward the rear of the car. Here is a better picture of how the blower motor comes out once you have the filter housing off:

The blower resistor card is a pain in the **** to access, you access it from under the dash on the passenger side, no good advice on this other than a good swivel/flex driver to get to the 2 screws.

Blower resister... as in heater fan ?... if that's what you mean ... look in the duct work near the fan ... you will see a connector going into the side of the duct work and two or three bolts.... remove them and that is the resistor block

2001 Alero, Blower worked on high only and then died. Replaced the resister. Started it up and everything seamed to work. Came out the next day and had to jump the car. The blower didn't work at all....

Are you sure the HVAC controls are funtioning properly? You should use a test lamp, buzz box, or a VOM (VOLT OHM METER) to test those controls along with the blower motor resistor, blower relay and the blower itself. This will take you all of 4 to 5 hours if you are a backyard mechanic. I will tell you this-power from all of the blower settings on your HVAC control in your dash does end up going thru a relay. This also could be what mechanics call an intermittent. You also need to know some basics about the wiring in automobiles.

Saturn 2001 SL idles in neutral between 2000 and 3000 after engine gets warmed up. also blower for heater has bad resistor were is it located so i can replace it?

high idle concern is probably caused by either a sticking throttle plate, defective IAC or the computer is commanding the high idle for another reason.

the blower motor is found behind the glove box in the HVAC case

Which fuse box has blower motor fuse on 2001 chev impala

There is a blower motor resistor located up under the passenger side dash. I believe there is actually 3 fuses that can cause problems with the blower....relays/fuses should be located in the engine compartment fuse block. They are High Blower fuse-HVAC fuse-Radio/HVAC/RFA/Cluster/etc...fuse. Hope this helps.

2001 Saturn L200 blower motor does not work in highest switch position. Move switch down to next lowest position and it works normally. This is in AC mode.

Blower motor resistor. Located next to/ near the blower motor itself. These are common failures for no high speed blower operation.

Saturn HVAC Blower Stopped Working

if the resistor card is bad you will only have setting 4 high on the blower and no other speeds, the resistor card is under the passenger side glove box by the center console way up there, i think its a phillips head,if i remeber right not too hard to get to,,, if no high speed then the fan motor is bad, thats under the wiper cowl under the hood,u gotta remove the wiper cowl to replace it

NO AIR /HEAT

The blower motor resister card shorts and takes out the blower motor, most likely you will need to replace both items.
