There is a black box behind the drivers side rear wheel. It has 2 bolts that hold it on. It will have lines running from the gas tank to this box. Take this box off. There is a electrical connection along with a vent line from the tank on a T that will unplug from this box. Take the T and look inside the vent part of it. There is a plunger that gets stuck. I took pb blaster and squarted inside. Then I used a small screw driver and worked it back and forth till it did not stick any more. reassembled it and it worked fine. it took a couple of fill ups before the light on the dash went out by itself.

Re: I can't put gas in tank
There is a flexiable plastic vent tube that runs along the fill pipe where u fill the tank, it lets air out (or vent) as you fill with gas , u will need to pull this and replace it, nothing else causes this fill issue.

Initially since the fuel pump is located in the gas tank ,it is not a
task for the average home mechanic. It is electric puts out about 15
lbs. pressure uses the gas in the tank as a coolant. In older models it
is possible to have the pump wiring burn and short out.The results could
be a fire or if you are fortunate pump failure.
There are 4 hoses comimg out of the tank that are held on by clamps get
those of then un clamp the filler hose then un screw bolts holding
the tank and it drops right down.
You need to open the tank then you can
put in the new pump witch is 40 dollars make sure its facing the same
way as took it out then you slide it back in close up the tank then
raiseit up put the 4 bolts back in to hold it up the put the 4 hoses
back on were they go tightin the clamps and you are done.
Same problem yesterday on my Dad's Jimmy. Left my brother in law stranded cause they couldn't put gas in it. There is a pressure purge valve next to the tank that is supposed to release the pressure on the tank when the engine is shut down. These often fail in Jimmy's and Blazer's and because the tank is still pressurized, the antisiphon valve doesn't open up and this keeps you from putting gas in the tank. You need to replace the part.
