Question about 1993 Toyota Camry V6

1 Answer

No fire to my plugs

I have a 1993 toyota camry 3.0 v6 with no fire. I have power to the ignitor and going to the coil but no fire is leaving the coil into the distibutor. I have replaced the coil, ignitor, plugs, wires, cap, and button along with the ecu. I have heard that my car has a diode? built inside the distibutor and that it will not send a signal to the coil to release the spark is that true? Is there any sensor that has the same effect

yes the distributor is turning and button is secured. I have power leaving the icm and flows into the coil. I have heard that the distributor has a diode of some sort and will cause the problem that I have. Bear in mine I have a 93 v6 so it is not compatable with 94 and up. I have a wierd one from what I am told

It all sounds like you have a bad computor. If you are not getting fire from the coil. The source will lead you back to the brain source, (The Computor). Go to the local junk yard to get another one at half price.

What is the firing order on a 1993 toyota camry 6 cylinder, 3.0

With the firewall on your left and radiator on the right, the cylinders are numbered 1-3-5 on the firewall side going away from you ie towards the transaxle, and the radiator side 2-4-6.

Then the firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6.

No fire to my plugs

Check your timing belt. Take the cap off, and turn the engine over to see if the cam is turning. If that's okay, , then, yes there is a diode in the distributor. And they are pretty pricey. If i was you i'd go get a distributor from an auto wrecker and replace the whole thing. It's easier, and cheaper.Good luck!
