Open Question

Peugeot 307 1.4 03 turns over but wont start

Computer shows no faut codes getting fuel at the fuel rail but no power to the coilpack no fault code showing no heater fan no wipers doors open and close ok with key fob insert key into ignition engine turns over but will not fire up car went ok yesterday woulnt start this morning

Sounds like the old nikasil problem.Remove all of the spark plugs and squirt oil down each bore,replace plugs and she should fire up.

Check the spark plugs and eventually replace them.

Check the air intake and air filter, air intake temperature sensor should be tested by a mechanic, as this can cause cold start problems.

Check if there is fuel pressure, and if fuel is circulating regularly. A tool to measure fuel pressure can be purchased at any part shop for about $30.

If fuel pressure is not regular, then check fuel pump, fuel lines , and fuel filter.

Distribution problems can also cause the car not starting at cold, check distributor rotor or coil pack, check wires to spark plugs. Try to understand if one or more cilinder is misfiring (engine rough) , in that case check distribution.

Electronic injection problems can arise because of a fault on the vacuum system, or a faulty sensor (O2 MAF) in case, do a code reading scan on the car ECU (computer module) using an ODBII code reader.
This will return error codes that can help in addressing fuel injection problem.
Also test and clean injectors.

If the problem is none of the above, check ignition and ac system, if car is not cranking, or if there is no power to sparks at all , it can be a faulty ignition (cylinder, ignition switch coil) or a problem with a locked alarm system.

As first thing replace sparks and check if they are burnt irregularly , or if one spark plug is dirtier then the others, that will mean the car is misfiring. If one spark plug is covered with oil, then one or more cylinder have problems( ring).

Replace air filter.

Replace fuel filter.

Possibly scan computer.

Try to understand if fuel is getting into cylinders and if engine has no spark, or is misfiring.

Check all wiring from ignition , coil and wiring connected to sparks.

My Peogeot 206 HDI has a diagnostic error code P14660. The engine turns but it doesn't start


that fault code is too high for a Peugeot 206 with OBD2

i checked all the Peugeot car forum sites for answers
on that code

PO4660 no mention
PO1466 no mention

need to start back old school diagnosis

fuel pump ... spark at plugs

run the fault codes
check cam shaft is turning( broken timing belt)
check immobilizer is operational
check for ignition control module problem

On many diesels, when I read codes they mention an egr valve, but what they are really talking about is the throttle actuator. What I don't understand is why you no longer have any codes. there are some codes which do not turn on the light on the dash because the computer hasn't decided yet that it is a hard code, so check for them anyway. The symptoms you are describing usually turn out to be either the throttle actuator, fuel rail pressure regulator, or a ripped turbo hose

The engine and transmission in this cars drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM (Power Train Control Module). Whenever a problem like this occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPEDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM

No start


Okay, lets start with fuses, check all your fuses, then move on to scanning the computer for any stored codes, like pcm codes as chrysler has had computer problems, and make sure power wire from battery to fuse/ relay box is good and clean, then check your auto shut down relay maybe swap with a known good one, then last dis connect all injectors and check for a shorted one.

Fuel preasure control fault code p1112 on a peugeot 406 2.0 110 bhp hdi this fault cide come off a rac computer when pluged in to my car thanx.


P1112 is for a problem with the fuel-rail pressure sensor CIRCUIT.
You need a new rail-pressure sensor and modded cable.

Car trouble,


could be a dirty fuel inject problem
run the fault code first to check for cam/crank position sensor problems or other electronic faults
and go from there
a dealer charging $80.00/ hr is cheap as where i am it is $145.00 /hr
