Disconnect vehicle battery for 2 minutes, reconnect battery and vehicle will do a system check, if all is ok the light will go out.

The battery light on your dash indicates a charging system failure, that would be the alternator and its wiring. If you are still driving the car and haven't needed a jump start in four months, you probably have a malfunction in the circuit that checks the charging system.
Check your voltage at the battery with the vehicle running and if it is between 13.5-15 volts i wouldn't worry to much about it.

or disconnect battery wires, positive then negative wait 2mins then reconnect negative 1st then positive, this should reset your electrics, it worked for me anyway.

The check engine light can come on for any number of reasons. Could be low oil or replace the knock sensor. Pull into a auto electricians shop and ask them to hook up an OBD tool and they can tell you what is wrong then and there. The plug for the tool is above the drivers feet and is easily accessable. They can also reset the light for you at the same time.
