Sorry i did not make it clear what gear box the car has. It has a multitronic transmition. The oil was changed 10.000 miels ago and it did seem smoother for a short while. I have had the car for two years and the juddering has always been there at the same level.

Your description is a very common fault in multitronic gearboxes. Repairs can be prices, but if you can show good oil change service history to a Audi dealership your likely to get a good will contribution. Worse case, a new gearbox is required. Some can be repaired internally and some require new hydraulic control units or electronic control units. All depending on the out come of tests. Hope this helps.

It sounds like the thrust bearing is on it way out, have you just had a clutch fitted?

Jaguar xj8 2004 (x350) when driving at slow speed (50 -80 Kmh) the gearbox undecided which gears to use. Rev counter goes slightly faster and slower. Problem goes away when driving faster. Also lumpy...

sounds like the torque converter is going out...I remember on some of the xj8 and xjr models in the x350 class had these issues...the signs were a surge in the rpm cluster at about 50mph and when you attempt to pass or kick down it will ****....but as you get higher in speed it eventually smooths out...This is my insight for your issues...If it was the transmission control module it would throw a definite code.....Usually this issue with the converter was with the earlier vin models ranging in g00 to g400 numbers....and a few others

I have this problem with my K Reg Audi 80 1.9 tdi...Driving along say 50mph in traffic, take foot from throttle due to traffic flow, put foot back on throttle and nothing happens unless you either let...

you car is fitted with a "no fuel"system,so when you take your foot off "no fuel" goes to the engine untill it reaches 1200 revs.then it will allow fuel to flow to keep tickover/smoothness.(its computer controlled)you need to get your car onto the diagnostic computer,(skoda/seat/vw/audi)so you have the codes/items that need to be sorted. The tdi engine was one of the first engines that VW computerised and it is very reliable/powerful,compared to the peugeot/citroen engine.(briefly, the fault is not just a switch/cable),

Audi A4 Auto, Gear changing trouble

Did you change the transmission filter? Sounds like no Front pump pressure. dirty filter will cause cavitation of the pump and damage to pump. Damage to cutch packs will occur too. Do not run until investigating filter, make sure o ring or grommet in valve body is present for filter

Audi A4 2.5 TDI Juddering when pulling away.

get it plugged into diagnostic equipment that way you can see what clutches are being used and what power is being used by the solenoids if the oil was low it would have run hot and that is not good news for auto boxes
