Try to check your brake lever pedal by lifting it. you might have a bad brake light switch. If it solve the problem its time to replace it. 1. Just remove the 2 wires connected on it and remove the switch.2. Replace it with a new one and re install the wires ( plug and play socket) and your good to go. hope this would help you.

2002 Gmc Yukon xl. Drove it one morning and returned home than ten mins. later went to start it and nothing. Dead. Turn key to on and all dash lights go our and nothing. Doesnt crank or anything. ...

Take the battery out of it and go to a auto store to get it checked, they do that free, but you might need to get it charged or get a new battery. If it clicks then it's definitely the battery, otherwise it could be something completely different.

Things to consider
-oil change?
-last tuned up?
-battery age?
-check fuses?
-are you aggressive while driving it, that can cause internal engine problems over the years.

hope it helps.

Dash lights and tail lights out

On my 94 gmc I lost my taillights, I traced the problem(with help) to a little white block with wires coming out that is located on the steering column. A wire was broken off so I resoldered it and it solved my problem. It is just an idea, but, it is a place to look.

Replacement of rear outside tail light assembly

If you're asking how do you change a taillight bulb, then follow this procedure:

Open the trunk lid.

Disconnect the connectors from the taillights (taillight bulb connectors are visible by looking inside the trunk at the back of the tail lamps.) There may be an interior trunk trim panel that you have to take off but in most cases its just a series of thumb screws that hold them in.

Brake Lights/Taillights: 21/5 W

Rear Turn Signal Light: 21 W

Back-up Light: 21 W

Rear Side Marker Light: 5 W

Turn the bulb sockets 45 º counterclockwise to remove the bulbs.

If you're removing the taillamps with the bumper off there are 3 nuts and screws that hold the taillight to the rear panel of the car that have to come off from the inside of the trunk.
Remove the nuts and screws, then remove the taillight.

hope that answers your question
