i had the same problem took the starter out and paid e253,for recondished one,put it in and same problem, checked everything,in the end it was a faulty battery connection, anti freeze had spilt on it.

the selonoid is mounted on top of the starter, you have to take the starter out to check it, or if accessible jump the circut with a screw driver, at the battery cable connection on the selonoid to the ignition wire on the solenoid, or take the starter and have it checked.

Second starter replaced in 4 months. starter works for a few days and then nothing not even a click.

maybe the starter is bad -- sometimes even rebuilt ones are no good. Also, if there is no crank at all--- the security system could be the problem, have to do the key in the door trick...

I just expiriance the same problems on my rover so i check it out and found that the engine spark fuse was out. I replaced the said fuse and their you go it started. You can find that fuse under the dashboard in the satellite 1 fuse box. it should be the 3rd one from the right. Good luck buddy hope that helps you out.

Firstly, make sure the battery is fully charged, then check the main cables at the battery including the battery clamps for corrosion etc. Then check the earth cable to the chassis is making a good contact. Try to start, if still the same, then check the cables to the starter motor that they are good contacts. If still no luck then you must remove the starter and take it for repair or replce it. The solenoid is mounted on top of the starter motor.
Hope this helps

Does the starter spin? Has the battery been load tested? Are the battery cables clean and tight on the the battery posts? Check all this and you will likely find one of them to be the problem.

Where is thermostat on97 land rover discovery

The oil thermostat is just above the oil filter - all models.

The water thermostat is :
> Behind and slightly to the right of the alternator on a petrol disco
> In the small block with the hex nut on top behind and above the radiator on a diesel disco..

Land Rover Discovery 1998 runs great but suddenly it changes

If the engine is revving but the car doesn't move faster , I would be looking at the clutch or Gearbox.Sounds like the clutch is slipping.
Have your mechanic check it out.
Hope this helps.

98 disco 300tdi with rear wheel bearing problems

I would just replace the bearings, They're not that expensive and they're quite easy to replace. After replacement, if it happens again on the same wheel, you probably have a bent semi-axel. I had this exact problem on a '93 200tdi disco.
