Mercedes 190e auto 2.6 losing power (sometimes stalling)

Hello, I have a specific question about my Mercedes 190e auto 2.6.
During driving, I sometimes notice that it temporarily loses power as if I had touched the brake lightly, then suddenly picks up again. In extreme examples it loses power completly and stalls (even though it's an auto). I then have to coast into a layby, turn off the ignition and re-start it (which it does with no problem). I know that I have had a few electrical problems (my heater no longer works and used to keep blowing fuses) and a past similar power loss lead to complete death of the vehicle in that I couldn't start it at all. In that instance I took it to the garage and an auto-electrician traced round and found that that was due to a single frayed shorting wire underneath the fusebox. For the current problem, someone suggested it could be an incorrect air/fuel ratio. I noticed that the air hose (between the air scoop and filter) is cracked most of the way round - could that be the source cause of the problem? Or am I just being hopeful here?

You may have a loose connection under the fuse box, same thing happended to me in a Rover Viteses
Another problem caused by hanging a bunch of keys on theignition lock causes the lock to wear and as the keys swing it cuts the ignition

Car starts sounding like it has fuel starvation spuddering

Sounds like the vent on your gas cap is blocked.
The next time it dies, try opening the gas cap and listen for a sound like air escaping. If you hear this, it should start right back up again.

If I'm right, you just need to replace the fuel cap ($5 at any gas station or auto parts store) and you'll be good as new.

Mercedes 190e ,stalls and will not restart until 1hour has past.

Hello, The fuel filter is located under the car forward of the rear axle. You have to remove the plastic cover and then you will see the fuel pump, filter etc.
It is normal for a fuel tank to have pressure in it especially on warmer days.
I hope this helps.
