You are talking about the black triangle piece at the top in the front of the door.opposit the side view mirror? I can't remember if it is held on with one screw or it is just clipped on.(I think it's just clipped) I think I have detailed pics. of this procedure at home. if you need them post back and i'll see if i can dig them out.

Ok found it, sorry I though it was for a 99 but it's for a 98...should be very similer.

sorry (got a head of myself).

there is a screw in the handle where you pull the door closed.

the black piece where the 'opener' handle is should just be clipped on as too the grey piece with the power window and door lock switches, behind all this is a hidden screw as shown in next pic.

the black piece you are asking about is just clipped on. now that i see it and if memory serves me... there is one clip at the top that pulls straight out once it is released the whole piece is pulled straight back toward the rear of the door to release the other two clips. Check the bottom of the door pannel I think there is also two screws at the very bottom. once ALL the screws have been removed the pannel is held on with plastic 'Hooks' pull the pannel straight up and is a pic. with the pannel removed you can see the holes around the perimiter where the 'hooks' on the pannel go into.

    Hope this helps

1999 windstar van is warm turn heat and blowing cold air?

its the blend door actuators, you have 2, one behind the radio and one on drivers side inside back panel, also check fuses, but i fixed my heat problem with the 2 actuators, not hard to do but does take some time, you have to get a special tool from auto store(2-3$) cheap) take radio out and its the little box there that is no bigger than a cigarette pack, remove the 3 screws and take wire plug off, in reverse to replace, the rear you will have to take whole panel off driver side being careful with screws and plastic pieces, clean blower while there wouldnt hurt :) hope it helps

I need to replace the driver side power window motor, do I need to secure the sector gear before I do this? If so, how do I do this?

Could be a motor problem or a window regulator. Start by removing the door panel. Peel down the water bearier, you should see three star screws, remove these and the motor will come out. Remove the plate on the window motor and check the plastic plugs in the motor. If defective you can replace with plastic plugs or ball bearings. Motor very seldom tears up, probably a window regulator.

1995 Ford Windstar--How can I get the door panel off to replace a switch for the auto window ACO

Ther is a screw at the door handle and one at bottom of door. Then black triangle has a screw at top of door panel. Pop switch panel out. Push up on panel--do not pull out, this will break the plastic clips. Then route switches thru hole.

99 Ford Windstar Back door replacement

If I recall the wiring plugs in at the top you may be able to pull the plug with out droping the back of the headliner, But I am not sure, if not pull the two clips in the rear and one uper side panel for access. You will need someone to help yu remove the door. After you get the wiring loose at the roof and the washer hose, remove one nut/bolt out of each hinge at the door frame, and loosen the other two, remove the gas lift shocks by using a small screw driver to pry the clip back on the end that attaches to the door while some holds the door up, then remove the last two bolt/nuts in the door hinges, and remove the door. If you need to use parts on the old door like the lock cylinder yoou will need to remove the inner plastic panel to gain access to the clip that holds the cylinder. Replace in reverse order and adjust to fit properly before tightning the bolts at the hinges, then snap lift shocks back on and replug harness at roof and washer hose. Hope this helps.
