That is definately a power problem! See if there is an inline fuse going to the radio. It is probably in a plastic pop-open case that may very well have popped open and the fuse is bouncing around.

Radios not only need power but antennas. Check the antenna connection into the back of the radio and at the mast. If the rod antenna is loose it could be intermittent. It could also be the bottom clamp that attaches to the sheet metal of the car...if it is corroded or loose the same...

SOURCE: how do i replace the starter solenoid on a 96

You can't replace the solenoid. It is built onto the starter and will come assembled on a new starter. Many car companies are doing this now, (but not ford).

SOURCE: 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager instrument cluster problem

There has been issues with the solder joints on the PIN connection to the gauge cluster. The issue being that over time thru vibration and such one of these solder joints will fail (happened on or 1999) you can repair this though. You will have to remove all of the trim from around the driver's side dash board, this will include the trim towards the center of the dash. Once these pieces are remove you'll need to remove the gauge panel (I believe (4) allen head screws) carefully bring the panel and release the wire clip from it. Looking at the back of the panel, where the plug was, carefully with plenty of light look for one of the pins to have a failed solder joint. It will be very faint however the failed joint will be a fine dark line around the pin. To correct use a small soldering iron and reheat this solder until it wants to flow, let it cool and reassemble.
As I fore mentioned I had the exact same issue as you are describing, our is a 99. The most tricky part is the dash, take your time with it.
I hope this may have assited you,
Tom

Hi:
This same thing happened to my daughter,s car, and it ended up being fixed with a transmission speed sensor. This sensor not only runs the speedometer, it helps tell the transmission when to shift too.

It sounds like the connection to the cluster is not making good contact.

Check the fuse panel for any blown, loose or missing fuses. Otherwise this is likely a wring issue. Has the vehicle been serviced for wiring or something else that requires auxiliary power?

YOU MAY HAVE A BAD GROUND. MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS POWER GOING TO THE SWITCH. IF NOT RUN YOUR OWN POWER WIRE WITH AN INLINE FUSE TO THE SWITCH. TRY THE BRAKES AND SEE, TRY THIS GOOD LUCK

How to change the rear spark plugs of a 96 plymouth voyager

The engine plenum will have to be removed. This is what the air goes thru to get to the engine intake. Remove ground, mark tag remove required cable, wires and hoses, take digital photos as you go. Be patient. The good news is we don't have to change them every 20K miles.
