Question about 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier

Open Question

Headlights/Taillights & Wipers stopped working, Blinkers almost never work.

I have a 2001 Chevy Cavalier, 4.4-Cyl, 2.2 Liter. Last night, my headlights and wipers both stopped working, I just had running lights, no taillights or headlights and no wipers. This happened once about a year ago, but now it has happened twice in two days. Also, I have had this car two years and my blinkers have never worked right. My emergency flashers always work, but my blinkers maybe blink once if I am lucky. I have had the blinker switch replaced but it didn't change anything. Also, the fuses look fine. So, why would my headlights/taillights and wipers quit working at the same time if they are on different switches? Also, what could be wrong with my blinkers? I have been told my battery may be needed to be replaced, could this have anything to do with it? Thank you so much.

SOURCE: 2000 chevy cavalier hazard flashers

I believe in your car there are two flasher relays. one for the hazard and one for the turn. the turn is mounted on the steering column, up by the fire wall. Newer models have them both in one relay. and one side can go bad

Central locking system

Sounds like this car was under water...????

Not knowing the year is a down point.!

I would remove and check all fuse block relays and switches. Both under the hood in engine area and under the dash.
If it was me, I would bring it to a auto electrical shop and have them check to system.

The wipers will not work in the daylight....when he starts the truck in the daylight the wipers will not come on.....at night when he is leaving work the wipers will work.....checked the fuses and replaced...

So what youre saying is the wipers work when the headlights are on
but the wipers dont work when the headlights are off?

I would suspect the turn signal switch is bad. I believe the switch on your S-10 controls
the wipers as well as switching from high beams to low beams. Since that switch is related
to the control of both headlights and wipers.

Could also be the headlight switch. The wiring harness from the turn signal switch plugs
into the headlights switch. I would replace the headlight switch first since you can get one
for around $25. Turn signal switch costs $150-$200. Maybe a little more or less for your vehicle.

My 2001 chevy cavalier headlights and wipers dont work and my car would not start **** got car to start **** wipers and headlights still dont work this only happens when it rains

It sounds like you have moisture getting in somewhere. Check all of your wires to ensure they are dry, and be sure to open up and take a look at the fuse relay located in the engine compartement. You can easilly seal the fuse relay box with ordinary cloth or peices of styrofoam to help keep moisture out. Also, ensure that there is no moisture getting into your headlight assembly. If any of it appears cracked, those can easilly be sealed with ordinary rubber cement. Just don't over do it.

Taillights wont burn

You'll have to use a 12vdc test light and start probing for power with tailights on, and I'd work from tailight & go forward. You did check all your fuses right?
