SOURCE: water running

Hi

You will have to pressurize the cooling system , up to normal running pressure of 15lb sq in, with a pressurizing pump tool.

Then with the aid of a good torch, and possibly a mirror, you should be able to locate the source of the leak.

Good Luck !

A FixYa rating would be appreciated Please !

John.

SOURCE: my 2000 intrepid overheated and

Check it out for a no start condition. If it overheated so bad that it did not have compression, and you changed the timing belt to fix the compression problem, then it is burned up. Other than that also look for fuel and spark in the cylinders. There is still some kind of hope!

I have a small water leak behind timing chain cover on my 99 Durango.

Your water pump is on its way out. If your timing chain is due replace them together. Chances are it will just be a minor weep just keep an eye on coolent level and temp until you can get replaced and don't plan any long drives.

Coolant leak... have a pretty bad coolant leak that looks like its behind my timing chain cover... need to add like a gallon of water a day in it... just had the water pumped and thermostat changed......

If you really mean behind the timing chain cover than perhaps the
chain has worn through it which does make for a leak. Probably not the answer you want to hear but not an uncommon problem.

1992 ford explorer. Hit a deer. Messed up front end. Need to replace gasket behind timing chain cover to fix water leak. Already replaced water pump. still have the leak. Can timing chain cover be replaced...

sounds like the engin took a real wack????
i hope you eat that deer!! its cost you dear to fix it?
you could do the gasket in place but its a right old job,,,when mine started leaking i just tiped in a big bottle of rad weld or block weld (stop leak) what ever you call it,,, it stoped the leak dead in its tracks for years (3 or 4 years) till i sold the truck??
as for bad running yes it could be the crank sensor or that water leak getting every thing wet??
