Put shifter in any forward gear posistion and it seems to stay in 3rd gear. does not happen all the time.

hi , you may need to get the gear box oil level checked as this seams that it may be a little low , you could also tryrunning the engine for a minute or so , this would allow the oil to warm up and hopefully engage the first gear correctly , regards mark

Hi! Your car might went to limp-home-mode to prevent further damage. Check the valves for it might be sticking on the transmission valve body assembly. Its just gonna be it, nothing else. Hope this helps and have a good one!
