Which side is bank 2 on 04 yukon for sensor 2 replacement

I have an 04 gmc yukon and the check engine light came on. The code tells me that the bank 2 sensor 2 is bad which is the post-cat sensor. What I can't figure out is which side is bank 2 located on. The driver or passenger. The engine is 5.3L Vortec flex fuel. The vin offers a "Z" if that matters in any way for engine type. HELP!!

    I changed the sensor and drove the vehicle but the light is still on. Does it have to be reset by the scan tool or disconnecting the battery for a few minutes reset the system????

If you look at the front of the motor you will notice one cyclinder is further forward then the other... that first cyclinder would be 1. i'm guessing the side opposite to cyclinder one would be bank two.

Where is the O2sensor bank 1 at with a code of P0420. AND do I need to replace both sensors upstream and down. Or just the one that is showing up on the obd scanner.


Bank one is front side of cat. It should also tell u if it's cat 1 or cat 2. Depending on make an modle an yr. Catalyst 1 bank 2 is left cat back sensor. Catalyst 2 bank 2 is right cat back sensor. U do not have to replace upstream also. My o2 sensor Catalyst 2 bank 2 went bad. Had engine code for burning rich bank 2. Replaced tha down stream sensor an fixed problem runs better an better gas. This was in 97 gmc suburban. Idk what vehicle ur askin about. An I'm not to familiar with much about cars jus trucks an suvs.

I have 99 bmw 323i.i ran it hot and got prob fixed and now the eml and a triangle with circle around it comes on dash and car has no power.feels like it has a rev limiter.wats wrong with my car


have throttle body checked also the MDK throttle motor,
make sure that the dealer has followed service bulletin 12 07 99 for procedure to replace the MDK throttle motor
also have them check for codes,here are some codes,
it could be an expensive job,have them check everything,it is most likely the throttle motor,,throttle body is 600 if they switch it,dont let them do it without checking throttle motor,

Where is the oxygen sensor located on a 1999 GMC Yukon with a 350.


You have four O2 sensors in your vehicle. Bank 1 and Bank 2. Typically it is Bank One, sensor Two that goes out from minor oil leaks on your engine. Here are a couple diagrams. Lay down behind your right front tire and look up. Look for cracked wires or burnt areas by connection. You can't always tell by looking. Easy to replace and fairly cheap.

2003 gmc yukon denali through a mass air flow sensor code changed still having problems with it stuttering to start and while driving on freeway or at stop light when taking off


Trouble codes? If none, then check O2 sensor outputs and replace as needed. Could be a leaking intake manifold gasket if you get "lean banks" codes. This happens in cold winters, but fixes itself in Spring.

During inspection I found out that a o2 sensor was bad but i was reading up on them and aparently there are four o2 sensors. 2 upper and 2 lower. How am i suppose to know what one is bad? secondly my...


The check engine light is blinking usually because of a misfire which can cause damage to the cat. The blinking check engine light does not necessarily mean the the cat is damaged.

The first thing you need to do is find out what codes are causing the check engine light to come on. If there is an O2 code it will help you identify the O2 sensor. The sensors are divided into to banks. Bank one is the same side of the motor as the number one cylinder. Bank 2 is the other side of the motor. Then they are divided into sensor 1 and senor 2. Sensor 1 is always before the cat. Sensor 2 is always after the cat. So if you had an O2 code for the Bank 2 sensor 1 O2 sensor it would be the opposite side of the engine from the number one cylinder and the sensor before the cat.

IMO, your first priority should be to figure out why the engine is misfiring and causing the check engine light to blink. Solving that first may take care of the O2 issues or the O2 could be the issue.

P0421 warm up catalyst...below threshold (bank 1).. 1st of all, what is BANK 1 and is P0421specific to the problem or it is just a general code for cat converter or oxygen sensor


A v-6 or v-8 engine will have two banks. Bank one is the side of the engine with the number 1 cylinder. Bank 2 is the other side of the engine. In your case Bank 1 is cylinders 1-3-5 on the back side of the engine closest to the firewall. Bank 2 is cylinders 2-4-6 on the other side of the engine.

You have two cats bank 1 and bank 2. There are two oxygen sensors before each cat that help determine fuel trim and are refered to as sensor 1 and two oxygen sensors after the cats that monitor cat efficiency and are referred to as sensor 2. The bank 1 sensor 2 O2 sensor is either providing a higher than expected signal or is switching like the sensor 1 O2's. If either of these has occurred the PCM detects that the cat is no longer working as it should and sets the code/turns on the check engine light.

9 times out of 10 it is a cat that has gone bad.
