Make sure you have a fully charged battery. When starting the car, push the gas pedal down to the floor to engage the choke. Then push pedal halfway down and turn the ignition. Try jump starting to see if it is the battery. If it still turns slow it may be a bad starter.

My. 2011 Dodge Caliber Mainstream seems to not turn over. Lights & radio come on, but no turnover when i turn the key!

First thing to do is check the battery, have the CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) checked,,, Amperage is what makes your car crank,,NOT voltage... Your local O'reilly's, autozone, etc,, can do this for you.

2011 Caliber excessive cranking at starting

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

What cold cranking amp rating should the battery be ?

It should be enough for that size engine. That is 550 AMPs for 30seconds in 0 degrees. Most cars have batteries twice the power than they need. It helps run the accessories like lights and radio. If your car has trouble starting right away, you may want to get the strongest one that you can fit in there. If it runs fine, then I wouldn't worry about it.

I have a 2007 Dodge Caliber with 48K miles on it & with the weather being 4-8 degree in the morning hours I have a hard time getting the car started?? It seems like it is not getting gas or maybe the cold...

They make heaters for the battery, heater, oil pan, and block. and you might try a thinner oil depending on the temperatures. The heaters themselves run around $100 ( for all) and will last for years. Even a battery blanket will help pretty good. Again depends on your regular temperatures.
