CLUNK CLICKING OR KNOCK NOISE on honda crv front end

While driving I hear a metal on metal clunking noise. Almost like something is hitting the bottom of the floorboard under the drivers feet. And it doesn't make the noise while turning?

Front end clunking noise

Take the brakes apart & clean up all rust, check everything out
& lube things when putting back together
Have to do that at least once a year

Don't need machining every year or new pads, but have to knock
down the edge on the rotors & get rid of rust & lube (anti-seize on
everything but inside the caliper slide bolts, there you use the synthetic caliper lube

The clunk could be worn drive axle joints or drive shaft joints
or shocks
When your on the brakes or hit bumps your loading things differently & the clunk goes away

At times when i drive over a bump i hear a noise right under my feet; sounds like a clagging noise like somethings loose. 2007 chevy tahoe. Any ideal????

If your impression of the noise is coming from under the steering or somewhere near the brake pedal area, you can try these few simple approaches. Park your vehicle on a safe and quiet place. Engine off. The most common source is the knee bolster, that rectangular panel cover right under the steering wheel just opposite facing the driver's knees. give it a gentle bang with your palm or fist. Try to duplicate the noise you heard before and compare. The usual issue there is that the metal frame being detached from the panel. If you think your lucky, you will need to remove 2 screws at the bottom edge. also there is one 10mm bolt holding the park release handle. remove also the IP fuseblock cover before carefully pulling out the knee bolster supported by remaining 4 clips. If you found the metal detached from the plastics, you can repair it by gluegun, add more to reinforce. If this is not the case, reinstall it later and proceed with tapping and wiggling all the remaining components on that bottom area for possible noise source. I hope you get lucky. Goodluck. : )

Everytime i turn the steering wheel i hear a loud clunking noise, i know its not the strut mounts, i know both tie rod ends are brand new within the past year plus they dont make a clunking noise like...

clunking noise may be bad steering rack. either the bolts that hold it to the frame may have worked loose, the center of your vehicle is where the steering racks located, just under the center of floorboard.under dash but on floorboard.make sense? try turning the steering wheel with engine running, place your hand under the radio, but on floorboard, when you turn the steering wheel from side to side,do you feel a thump? if so,then your steering racks loose or bad. the only way to know for sure is to have someone who knows about the steering rack to inspect it visually. thank you for choosing fixya.com

It sounds like your transfer case needs servicing. Drain the fluid & check for metal particles. Some of the older trucks required reversing to disengage the 4x4

Clunk noise from front passenger side when

That noise sounds to me like a Ball Joint problem. I would check to see if you have fittings to grease the front suspention.

Good luck, Allen
