That has happened to me before. I parked the truck, turned off the engine, waited for about 5-10 and restarted. As long as the reduced speed indicator and/or the check engine light don't remain on you are good to go...hope this helps

My chevrolet aveo won't intermittently move from 2nd to 3rd or 4th gear, and have to reduce speed and move back down to 2nd and try again ....notice it more if trying to move up the gears quickly

This transmission is electronically shifted via solenoids controlled by a computer, so you need to have that tested for fault codes that may be in memory.

Did berretta have a 3.1 5spd stock in 91?

Beginning in 1991 the 3.1 L V6 could be had as an option on the GTZ, but it was only available with a 3-speed automatic transmission that reduced the 0-to-60 mph time to around 9.0 seconds.

1985 Nissan Sentra Hatchback Manual Idle Speed Is Much Too High

If you contaminated the throttle cable with lubricant, you HAVE to REPLACE IT. They are dry on purpose - so they do not collect and cake up with crud. This WILL cause it to bind, usually at partial or full throttle and then where will you be? ;) Get that fixed and then consider this:

If it is a carburetor engine (non fuel injection) likely cleaning the throttle linkages, springs and plates with carb and choke cleaner from a spray can will get the parts clean and loosened up. Some of those designs incorporated a weighted cam/ratchet to set idle speed when the engine is cold. As the engine warms, this cam/ratchet uses gravity and bimetal spring to fall back and allow the throttle plates to rest at normal, low, warm idle speeds. Crud, light rust, dry parts will prevent this from operating properly. I once serviced a Dodge B250 van for this very problem because *mud dobber wasps* decided to build a nest in the throttle linkages!

TRACTION CONTROL.

that is what it is desgined to do - reduce acceleration and apply the brakes intermittently when the wheels spin. You have a switch you cn push to disable it. You need to disable each time you start car. See owner manual.

06-10: Traction Control 1996 Contour, Mystique Workshop Manual
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION Traction Control System The optional traction control system is designed to control wheel spin when accelerating on slippery or loose surfaces. Traction control system is available only with anti-lock brakes. The traction control system includes the following components:
  • Hydraulic control unit.
  • Throttle control actuator (9N825).
  • Traction control switch.
  • Traction control warning indicator.
  • Front brake anti-lock sensor (2C204).
  • Rear brake anti-lock sensor (2C190).
The traction control system operates as follows:
  • System functions by transferring torque from the spinning wheel to the wheel with the most traction.
  • This is achieved by applying the brake at the spinning wheel through the hydraulic control unit or reducing the throttle opening.
  • Traction control braking and throttle control occur at vehicle speeds up to 50 km/h (30 mph).
  • At vehicle speeds above 50 km/h (30 mph), only throttle limiting control is used.
  • If speed control is operating when traction control system engages the traction control system will disengage speed control through the use of a speed control relay. This action is the same as applying the brake pedal with speed control engaged.
1996 contour
Traction Control Switch The traction control switch is located on the instrument panel, left of the steering column.
