Question about 1989 Chrysler New Yorker

1 Answer

I have a 1989 Chrysler New Yorker. The previous owner had a problem with the heat and a/c. They installed a switch that blows cold air. I don't need cold air, I need heat.

When I push the three buttons on the climate panel, a code 88 comes up. Any suggestions?

Code 88 shows to not really mean any problems. Most of those years of cars have a small valve to control water flow. Make sure your heater core is getting water, and the fan runs. If not, check fuses and the control switches for heat/cool. With that switch they installed, wires may have been cut or spliced.

The vent door is not moving into the correct position to get heat or the heater core is plugged up, not allowing hot coolant to flow through it.

Take it to a local mechanic and get them to have a look for you as it sounds like the autochoke cold start temperature sensor could be defective

I have no brake lights in my 1989 chrysler new yorker but have every other lights whats the problem?

Check the stop light switch down by the brake pedal. there's 2 wires going to the switch. when the pedal is pressed the little button on the switch comes out and causes the brake lights to come on. Try unplugging it and putting a jumper wire in the plug to complete the circuit. Second guess: if the car is rusted, check the wires in the trunk above the wheels.

My 1994 chrysler blows cold air when i put the heater on even on 90 whats that

I have the same issue. Its either your vacuum motor or the control switch itself. I'm leaning towards the HVAC control switch becasue my vents don't swtich correctly either, yours is probably the same.
