The sensor is on the shifter and their should be a fuse associated with it. Look at your owners manual for the location of the fuse. If there is a fuse it should control many devices and all of them would not work if it is blown.

2004 Ford Escape BACKUP LIGHTS both are completely not working. We have new bulbs and the fuse is new what could be the problem for the lights not working?

My guess would be the neutral safety switch on the transmission.
The switch also acts as a backup light switch when the shifter is in reverse.
I would check for power at the switch for the reverse light circuit.

Backup light / Reverse Lights are located in the transmission case. It is not too hard to change, once you locate the switch can be done easily. I have enclosed pictues for your understanding4188b48.jpgacf7e34.jpg

Brake and backup lights check good, but no lights, fuses good

Did you check to see whether or not the bulbs need replaced? Although it would be weird to have all the rear lights blow at once unless it shorted out somehow. I would also check under the hood for a blown fuse in the relay box.
