SOURCE: Saturn VUE 2003 Thermostat Housing--how to replace?

I would recommend factory parts only for this application. Find a Saturn dealer and ask for the thermostat housing, and it should include the thermostat. It is an updated part due to the thermostat sticking issue. As far as replacing it, the thermostat is below the upper and lower intake manifold. You need to pull the upper manifold up out of the way. To do this remove the 6 T-30 bolts holding it in place. There is a connector they will be below the intake on your right, this needs to be unplugged before pulling the intake up too far. The lower intake may have internal or external torx bolts depending on the year and date produced. Remove all 12 bolts and pull the lower intake out and the thermostat will be on your left, between the cylinder heads near the timing belt cover. There is a solid tube that connects the upper radiator hose to the thermostat housing, it is attached to the engine by an external torx bolt near the oil dipstick tube. Remove the hose from the transfer tube, then unbolt the tube and twist back and forth to remove. DO NOT pry on the bolt flange of the tube this will break off and then you will need a new tube. Keep twisting and pulling and the tube will come out. Once the tube is out simply unbolt the thermostat housing and install the new one. A couple tips for this, one is don't drain all the coolant, just remove the upper radiator hose from the transfer tube and drain whatever comes out of there. Draining all the coolant will introduce alot of air into the cooling system which will be tough to remove. All the air has to be out or the engine will over heat. You will only need maybe half a gallon of coolant if this procedure is followed. I also usually over fill the coolant a little to allow for any air trapped in the system to escape with out lowering the coolant level far enough to turn the low coolant light on. The labor for this job is about 2.5 hours for a professional, if you haven't done much work before allow at least double that to complete this job. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: 2003 saturn vue. replaced spark plugs and the

Did you use the recommended plugs or did you use a new style like E-3 or Bosch +4 or something similar. Sometimes using a plug other than the original type can cause problems. Check and make sure all the wires or plug connections to the plugs are secure. Check to see if a spark plug has a cracked insulator. If you used antiseize on the threads make sure none of it got on the spark plug electrode or it will missfire.

Hope these ideas help.

How to change a thermostat in a 2008 Saturn Vue ?

I don't know liter size of engine? I looked at info for 2.4L. The circle in the picture should be thermostat housing.
You can drain coolant, a little, remove any hoses from thermostat housing. The housing probably has a couple of bolts holding it, Use proper wrench or socket to remove bolts, remove thermostat housing, the thermostat should be under the housing. The installation should be the opposite of removal. Then top off the coolant. If your going to work on your own vehicles, you need a basic set of tools, wrenches and sockets, standard and metric size, pliars--different types of screwdrivers, we can go on and on.

I have a 2003 Saturn Vue 2.2L. The cooling fan is not comomt on when the engine is hot.

Have the coolant temperature sensor checked or replace.
That sensor is tied in with the cooling fans. When the coolant temp increases it turns on the fan.
It is usually located around the thermostat housing or screwed into the engine block with a 2 or 3 wire connector on it.

How do i get to the thermostat on my 2002 saturn vue v6 3.0 ltr

First you will need to remove the intake plenum, then the lower intake.

Remove the hose from the thermostat inlet housing.

Remove the bolt that holds the extension housing to the head near the oil dipstick.

Carefully jack up the passenger side of the engine and remove the t-stat extension housing.

Remove the thermostat housing bolts and remove the housing.

These are a real pain in the captain s quarters!

I need to change out the thermostat in a 2003 Vue - is it difficult?

im not sure what engine you have the 2.2 four cylinder or the 3.0 6 cylinder,,,,,,,if you have the four cylinder the thermostat is located on the rear of the enigne where the transmission meets the engine, its hard to change i would rate it a 6 out of 10 for difficulty for a exp mechanic,,,,,if you have the 3.0 6 cylinder its a 8 out of 10, its buried under the intake manifold,,not a easy job,,,, i would rec you take it too a shop for either engine that you have,,,,,,
