Question about 1994 Buick Park Avenue

94' Buick-Won't start right away......

When inserting the key, car won't fire up right away. Interior lights will go off and on. (Doesn't loose battery connection, radio and clock still set properly when it does finally turn on). I then hold the key in the start position for a few seconds, try to start it, eventually it will turn on. When this happens, 'Lamp Monitor' blinks and I hear a clicking noise in the glove box area. Once, after driving the car for a while, I turned the engine off and it sounded like it was still running. This is a family car and has been taken care of fully. This started two months ago, a new battery and altenator were installed, worked fine until now, same problem happening again. I appreciate the feedback.

i have a 91 park ave with the exact same problem

i was told it was the fuel filter. so I changed that out.. then was told the clicking was a bad relay ("fuel relay")

replaced that and still experience the same problem

someone else told me it must be the ECM .. but I haven't ripped that out yet. mostly because no one can tell me where to find it. I've googled it with no luck .. called auto part stores..

I called a buick dealer and they were no help. (imagine that)

    have u fixed this problem?

    any suggestions?

I found the solution
replace the ECM
went to a junk yard last week pulled the ecm out and went in search of a new one
they let me throw it into the car to test it out
car started up great.
there was a noticable difference in performance as well
appearently the ecm was goin bad for a while.

A few problems with my 92 buick regal. 1. Doesn't always start on the first try and I have to give it some gas when I turn the key. 2. Courtesy lights and chime won't turn off when key is ou

The no start on the first try could be low fuel pressure. The check valve in the pump may be letting fuel drain back into the tank, or the pump relay may be bad. The pump gets power from the relay when you turn the key on, then from the oil pressure switch once the engine starts.
How do you get the interior lights to go off ?

1998 Buick Skylark Theft System light on won't start. I have no chip in my key, and it starts every time for months than randomly it won't start for a day or week.

Right around 98 GM starting using Passlock antitheft instead of the old Vats system which had the visible chip in the key. Your system most likely has a transponder in the key head. Same idea, just a newer system. Go to this link. It explains the problem along with a few ways you can fix it yourself with out having to buy multiple parts that may not be broken.

My lights all come on but my car won't turn over doesn't make a sound or anything. What could the problem be?

I had a similar situation just this weekend on my 94 Buick Regal GS - it was the fuel pump (it wasn't 'engaging'). Unfortunately it was labor intensive (the fuel pump is in the gas tank, so they have to drop it to get to it), so about 500 bucks later, I have a new fuel pump, fuel filter (and, oh yea - a new battery, too just for fun).

1993 Buick Park Avenue we had a dead battery so we removed and charged it. Now the Car won't start and when I put key in the ignition the security light starts flashing

Any car with a Factory Anti-Theft System does this whenever battery power is lost. If your owners manual doesn't address this, you will have to contact a GM Dealer to get the system reset. Sorry!

94 vette won't start,bat good,have org. key,fuses ok,high beam light on lights off,lcd cluster won't light up?

Disconect the battery and ECM for FOUR DAYS then reconect the ECM and BATTERY. Let it sit for another four days without turning anything on. It should start but will run rough for about 200 miles as the ECM relearns the system. I had the same issue and that is what fixed it.
