Question about 2003 Mini Cooper
It worked perfectly fine 2 days ago. yesterday morning I was on my way to fuel up the MINI, all of sudden it started to shake with strange sound, and engine got shut off by itself. After starting engine, the gear indicator indicated the "EP" light(manual says it's running on Emergency Program with limited engine output due to some kinda transmission malfunction, but i think it's due to cold weather, it happend to me last December on the middle of the parking lot too with EP light. After cooling it down for 4~5 hrs, it worked perfectly normal). The engine output won't go up to 2,000 rpm on Driving nor Reverse. However, with the gear on Neutral, the engine runs up fine.
When I start engine, MINI maintenance system indicates oil service within 1,000 miles. So, I checked amount of engine oil-no problem at all, amount of engine oil is fine.
Only thing that i can think of is screwed up computer system due to cold weather. Any idea on this problem?
Have you checked transmission oil?
I am not familar with MINI's but it sounds like either your transmission oil is low or is too thick (cold weather could do that) that the computer is safe gaurding you for destroying your transmission or you computers messed up.
Recommendation: get the car to a shop ASAP before you do serious damage.
