I have a 88 monte carlo with the same problem. try taking the cigerette lighter out of that dash that should do it. the lighters have been known to cause electrical shorts when they go bad. just try that and if that doesnt work i realy dont know. try checking ground cables and othe wires.

Find what fuse is, You have to follow the wires with patience, from the fuse box to the item, you have a short circuit look if the horn + wire is not touching metal outside or inside the steering column, have You replaced the steering wheel? if the same fuse covers the dome light, take it a part and see if the + wire is touching the inside of the roof, plastic melted, or look at the on and off Dome switches at both doors, look for the positive wire on radio, antenna and main light switch, yo can disconnect every item and check any time hot wiring that fuse with copper wire every time, to You are sure

No power to horn fuse

Then either the horn is toast and needs to be replaced (check by connect cable from positive side of battery to the hot side of horn and cable to other neg side of battery and it will go off if it work.) If it works then check if its just open or short causing no power to horn fuse.

Relay keeps tripping and causes all lights to blink once every 30 seconds

While it sounds like a short somewhere in the wiring It would not hurt to switch out the breaker. If that does not help then it's fault isolation. You will need to check each connection. Try grounding the black lead from your meter, then poke around checking if you see a connection.
It's not uncommon for wires to short were they come into friction with some metal part. Then you need to check all the "hot" connections. With everything turned off see if something remains powered up. "Leaks" happen for a hundred different reasons, The part may be bad, or the power connection might have a short.
Remove and check all the relays also. Not uncommon for a relay to short internally. Fault isolation ranks right up there as one of the most frustrating jobs, so good luck!!!

Dash lights, lighter, & rear defroster wont work on my 2002 monte carlo ss

Have you checked your fuses? You could have an electrical issue also. If the fuses are good, you need to check your wiring harness for these parts.

2003 monte carlo - both headlamps went out at the same time - replaced both bulbs - no effect - any ideas?

check your fuse box for a blown fuse. Your owners manual will have the fuse layout inside it.

02 SS Monte Carlo , dash lights have quit working, well all interior lights for the controls and switches. checked body control module its good , no blown fuses

this only occured when the ambient light sensor turned on the headlights when it got to dark. if that is happening then check the headlight switch, the one that also dims the interior lights. mine had a burnt connector and fried the circuit board. replaced it and it works good. check for lose wires and connectors in there as well which likely caused the short.

Tripping fuses 2

it is the actual light assembly with a built in mercury switch when the hood is raised the mercury moves to make connection for light. Not working? Or if you don't want it to work just unplug right at the light. Don't know of after market ones if you wanna fix it. Check Auto Zone in the Help section near the Car batteries.

96 Monte Carlo Fuse

look under the hood. take the top of the fuse box and look at the sticker on the inside of the top. It should tell you unless the sticker ore off. Otherwise look in a Chilton's manual at your local library.
