SOURCE: toyota 2e engine

Hi,

The only positive way to check if the oil pump is working and therefore there is correct oil pressure is to temporary install a non-electrical oil pressure gauge that uses a small copper tubing to sample the oil/pressure and drive a needle on the gauge. Depending on temperature, idle should register about 20+psi. Having done this and confirmed that indeed there is sufficient oil pressure then it may simply be a defective oil sending unit. Otherwise, no or low oil pressure at idle is an indicator that the engine needs to be opened up again.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: Oil leak

Hello Pierre,
A little more detail may help me on this one, however this sounds like possibly your power steering pipe? both these use auto trans fluid it is reddy brown in colour and viscosity (Thickness) watery.
If this is the pipe, check the fluid reservoir it should have either a Yellow top with power steering or a steering wheel diagram on it.
If full then please give me more information as to location on engine where pipe comes from and goes too as nowadays engine oil is usually internally dispersed. Only oil cooler pipes possibly? will go to a finned type radiator usually near the front grille of the vehicle.
I hope this points you in the right direction as I'm thinking of giving this help up as very hard to remain on top slot when loads of questions responded to and no replies.
Good Luck,
Paul 'W'

You can give the chassis number and I will send you the diagram of it, normally this would be an engine breather pipe and usually it is hanging loose, some little oil in it would be normall as some people put too much oil in the engine, but I would start worry if it start leaking badly.

Car smells hot after driving like hot oil leaking but see no leak no oil in water no leaks from head just smells hot oh and not losing water either

It doesn't need more than a few spots of oil dropping onto the exhaust for it to smell hot.

I suggest you get underneath, eye level with the hot parts and use a strong light and possibly a mirror to search for leakage signs.

VOLVO V50 OIL ON CAMSHAFT COVER

I will try and simplify the problem. I have an oil leak, which I traced up the back of the engine to the cylinder head area.
When I removed the top plastic cover on top of the coil packs I found oil in every recess next to the coil packs. The crankcase breather pipe was also off. The source of the leak is not evident, but it is definetely above the cylinder head gasket area.

Rubber hose for sharan tdi tear. could it be the cause of oil leakeage on the bonnet. apporox 3" hose

Hi
it sounds like an oil cooler pipe or an oil breather most likely the oil breather for the turbo, this is quite common that oil will build up in here and does leak due to the pressure from the turbo, remove the pipe as it should not have loads of oil in it basically just oil vapour that builds up over time then leaks out. cklean it all out everywhere you can see that has oil and see if the problem persits, also the car has a plastic pan / cover under the engine to stop any damage to the bottom of the engine when you go over things, however this is also like a pan to collect oil so it tends to gather in there in small amounts then drips out when the car is moved. the best advice I could give is have the engine professionally steam cleaned with engine degreaser and hot steam.

Once clean any leaks would be more apparent and this ofetn helps diagnose the fault quicker.

Oil leak front seal

For the seal to leak it must be either worn out..come out.. or the engine compression is so great that is the first place it comes from as the breather pipe could be bunged up and this will alow the gaskets to leak also ,so check out the breather first and compression {or lack of}
Let me know how you get on Ron
