DTC PO204 I traded 2 to 4 and 4 to 2 today and it still says PO204 I cleaned the injectors the other day it is nothing I did but never seen this code before


code p 0204 refers to injector 4--circuit malfunction===causes wiring--injector--ECM
by moving the injector if the problem moved it is in the injector ( (possible failing activation coil in the injector body)
if it stayed at the no 4 injector spot then it can be in the wiring , connections or a problem ECM

Can a bad fuel pressure regulator cause a misfire on one cyl?


no- the fuel regulator regulates pressure in the fuel manifold to which all the injectors are connected
if it is just the one injector then
it is the injector
the wiring to the injector
blocked tip for the injector

My brother in law has a 2003 Chevy Malibu with a 2003 3.4 Impala engine inside. Apparently a previous owner did an engine swap. I check for spark and fuel pressure both are fine. The car still wont start,...


You can confirm each injector is actually working. Get a momentary switch, 2 feet of wire and some spade terminals (or whatever your connectors take). Disconnect the plug that connects to your injectors. Determine which injectors are controlled by which 2 wires. Connect 1 wire to the Positive 12V side of battery, then to one terminal on your switch. Connect a second wire from the other terminal of the switch to one of the two terminals of the injector you are testing, then connect a wire from the second terminal of the injector to any good ground on the car, or back to the Negative 12V on the battery. With the engine off, push the momentary switch on and off you should hear the injector clicking. If you hear the clicking that injector is working. Repeat the procedure for all other injectors. To avoid and shorting issues the wire going to the positive side of the battery should be connected last, and make sure no part of the wiring on the positive side touches any metal during this entire procedure.Disconnect the positive wire after each test to avoid any accidents.

I have a problem with my c5, it has a running issue where by i get a fault code saying i have a anti polution fault where a code comes up as injector 2 curcuit open.


If replacing the injector did not fox the fault then the fault is in the wiring to the injector . Loose /broken wiring or loose faulty connections at the ECM. Check for dirty /wet connections in the wiring loom.

It could be a short in the wiring-a bare wire touching metal, but sometimes an injector will go bad and short out blowing the fuse. Try unplugging all the injectors, then put new fuse in and turn key on. If fuse blows again, it must be a bad wire in the injector circuit. Each injector has a power wire and a ground wire, the power wire probably derives from the engine computer, and the ground wire definitely goes to the computer.
If the fuse didn't blow right away, try connecting one injector at a time (key on). If connecting one injector causes the fuse to blow-that is a shorted injector. It will have to be replaced.
If connecting all injectors did not blow the fuse, try the wiggle test on the wires, with key on. You may cause the fuse to blow by wiggling or moving a section of wire, and that is the likely source of the short. Separate the wires and examine them closely. Look for exposed wire, melted insulation, things like that. Look for where the wiring harnesses may chaff or rub against something, may be stretched or stressed. If you still can't find it, you may need to run continuity or resistance tests on each individual injector wire. For that you would need a multimeter, a good digital volt ohm meter (DVOM) at a reasonable price is a necessity for automotive work.

One fuel injector is not shooting out gas. new fuel injectors, new fuel pump, new fuel fitler,fuses ok, and relay are okay. so what is the problem/


either the wiring between the injector and the computer is bad, or the computer is bad. (ecm) the RED wire on both injectors should have 12V. connect a test light to the positive of the battery, now connect the tip to the DARK GREEN wire or the DARK BLUE wire on the injectors. you should get a rythmic flicker at the light when cranking the engine.. if both wires flicker, the injector thats not flowing fuel could be bad. if 1 does not flicker, check the wire to the computer, those wires go directly to the computer, no connectors. if the wiring is good, I suspect the computer is bad.

I have replaced plugs wires coil pack tps sensor and idle air control valve and still has cylinder 6 misfire i have also checked the compression in cylinder 5 and 6 and they are both 125 so i know thats...


yes it is probably the injector or injector wiring harness.

Start by checking the resistance of the injector at #5 and compare value to #6, they should be the same.
Check the condition of the injector plug to #5, look for corrosion or broken wires at the connection.
Do you have an electrical pulse at the #5 injector connection with the engine running?
Have you verified spark at the plug?

if you have spark, compression, and fuel pressure then your assumption of a bad injector(or wiring) is correct.

Here is a redneck trick to get a stuck injector going, otherwise you will have to replace the injector.

All injectors on the right bank are not firing, has new harness and injectors and hight pressuer oil pump.


follow injector wires and check where the injector grounds are connected to the engine.. loose or not connected ground wires can cause this problem.
