92 camry 4 cylinder aint firing

It just cranks over but will not fire put new distiputer in it done fine for awhile and now the same thing just cranks no fire

It seems as though it goes 2, 1, 3, 4 although from a top view they go left to right. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Crank engine with distributor cap removed, is it turning?
(That is if it has a distributor cap, some newer cars don’t have one)is it turning?
Broken timing belt or chain?

Are you getting power to the + positive side of the coil (small wires) with key on ? Hint; I use a needle pushed into the back of the plug so as not to damage the wiring.
If you have power then wiring from the ignition switch is OK. It usually is.
Hook your test light to the - negative side of the coil (one end on the - terminal and the other end on a ground). You should have power on the - side of the coil with the key on and engine off.
Crank the engine while watching the test light. Get a flashing signal at the test light when cranking?
If so and you have no spark the coil is likely dead.(don’t rely merely on resistance tests for a coil, a weak coil can test ok for resistance but still give no spark.It happens but is unusual. I learned this the hard way!)
No flashing signal?
Check continuity in all primary circuit wiring for opens.
If they are good,
It is time to check the pulse generator in the distributor. (That is if it has a distributor cap, some newer cars don’t have one, if it doesn’t then the ECM or computer sends signal via the crankshaft position sensor and the camshaft position sensor)
With the engine in non-running condition connect your A/C voltmeter to the pair of wires at the pulse generator and crank the engine. You are looking for an A/C signal that makes 4-6 volts of A/C. Got this? If so the ignition module is dead or has a bad ground. If not (more likely) you have a dead pulse generator in the distributor.
If you have three wires in the distributor signal wire you have a Hall effect sensor. I forget how to test that one. (Chrysler stuff)


If this part of the primary ignition tests ok then check wiring to ECM pinouts for opens.Wiring tests ok.ECM as last resort.

ck if you have spark at the coil for that cylinder. check the plug wire closely. if it has spark at the coil, then replace all the spark plug wires.

With the firewall on your left and radiator on the right, the cylinders are numbered 1-3-5 on the firewall side going away from you ie towards the transaxle, and the radiator side 2-4-6.

Then the firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6.

Putting spark plugs in a charad 1997 wat is the firing order they go in please


Dont tell me you removed all the wires at once without marking them? :O
The best advise for that is, to remove one wire and plug at a time then replace the plug, and connect the wire back in place to avoid mix ups...
I have spec tables for that car, but you need to help me with the model, whats the year model, 92 or 97?

I need to put a new distributor cap on a 92 s10 chevrolet but i took the old wires off without the new cap. how do i know shere to put the wires back on the cap in the right order?


the cap will usually have number one stamped on it. It rotates clockwise. If is a four cylinder the firing order is 1-3-4-2.If 6 cylinder 1- 6- 5- 4- 3 -2. If six cylinder 1-3-5 driverside Pass side 2-4-6

Hi. The firing order is: 1 - 3 - 4 - 2

Cylinder one is at the crank pulley side of the engine, 4 is next to the transmission.

first find your fuel rail and there should be a pressure release valve on it it will look like a car tires valve stem press on it if fuel comes out then its fine but next i would check the plugs if they aint firing it could be coil pack or timing belt

1994 Toyota Camry Won't start.


you should check 3 things. AIr, Fuel, and "spark"
your cars could have many problems. Ignition module, fuel injectors, Mass Airflow Sensor.
You should check into all of these 3 things.
a crank-no start could be many things.
it could even be a cam positions sensors resistance going up when the engine heats up. Cracnk- no start means testing. n like i said
The motor is getting Air, There is Fuel being put into the cylinders, and the Spark plugs are firing.

92' Cavalier 2.2L 4 cyl. runs but has a miss coming from #4 cyl.


Matter not whether plug fires out of engine. Put it back in and clamp a timing ligh to it. If the light won't fire, you don't have enough spark to fire cylinder, hense miss.

02 camry firing on only 2 cyclinders


If 2 and 4 won't fire no matter what coil is there, then you likely have problems with either spark plugs or spark wires. If rotating the coil packs doesn't make a difference, it has to be something that's always "with" those cylinders, which would be plugs and/or wires. A new set of plugs is very inexpensive, and isn't a bad idea, especially if it's been awhile since they were changed. I'd try them, see if it works, and if it doesn't, try swapping spark wires between cylinders (at both ends - undo the wires from the coil AND plug and move them to another cylinder and see if the fault follows).
