Question about 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe

1999 tahoe won't hold charge

I just brought a cold crank battery a month ago. Recently, I had to jump start my battery, when it sits overnight. I went to autozone to have a electronic diagnose done, and everything was fine. (battery, starter, alternator).. What else could it be??

You may have an earth problem, but unlikely if did not register on diagnosis so you'll probably need a new battery or it may need conditioning( distilled water so might as well get new battery).

the only thing i can think of is your immobiliser. i had a 94 escort with same problem and it wouldnt start without a jump. it turned out to be the immoboliser. i just dissabled my immobiliser and everything was fine. hope this helps.

you have earth points all over your car if any of these have corroded or snapped they will need replaced. and it depends what kind of immobiliser you have.

There are 1000 things that can cause this to happen. Isolation is your friend. Shut everything off. Make sure all the lights are off. Glove box, vanity, under hood...etc. Have a qualified person read the current draw with everything off. Start removing fuses and find out which is drawing the current, with an ammeter. But before you do all this, make sure it isn't a bad battery, (cant hold a charge) or that somebody didn't leave something on in the car.

2004 new beetle won't start in the am without a jump; once battery is jumped will stop and start all day till it sits overnight...next morning needs to be jumped again.

Hi, seems to me it's time for a new battery, probably the original battery in the car and 72 -78 months is a good useful life, however you can pull in to a place like auto zone ( I suggest at a time when they are not that busy, early a.m. ) and they will do a diagnostic check for free and check out the charging system , battery , and any drainage of current when everything is off for you but I'm sure it will be ok or it would not crank all day but the long over nite hours drains what little voltage that is in the battery. A battery that is bad will not fully charge because of a bad cell inside of it. Good luck, hope a battery fixes you up!!

I would check and clean any wire and connection between the alt and the battery and all grounds. Also check and see if charging voltage is the same at the battery post as it is at the lug on the alt.

it sounds like you need to replace your battery.jumping it to get it started will charge the battery especially if you are driving it around and will hold charge for a bit.but if truck is sitting all night then battery is just draining

replace your MAP sensor(manifold absolute pressure) the map sensor is the computer for your fuel pressure regulator telling how much pressure. Unless your tahoe runs like **** going up hill than it inevitably your fuel pump

'96 Chevy Tahoe won't start

i had similar problem. hard to start in morning but once started, would start everytime until next morning. i changed fuel pump, filter, fuel pressure regulator, coil, cap, rotor, pickup coil, battery. i was finally told the '96 had a recall on the fuel injection assemby. i changed that out with the new mpf system and it solved the problem. runs like a striped ape. hope this helps.
