first be sure that its the engine light and not the "service" light. the service light will usually illuminate if its time for an oil change. if its the service light ur owners manual should tell u how to reset it. if its ur engine light then try disconnecting ur positive battery cable for 1 minute. that should reset ur ecm and get rid of the engine light. if the engine light comes back on then have a diagnostic scan done to determine whats causing it. check the oil and coolant levels. if coolant is low pull the sparkplugs and try to turn the engine over if still not turning free remove the serpentine belt and try again, if it turns over ok check the pullyes on the front of the motor to see if they all turn free by hand. a serpentine belt can prevent an engine from turning over if a tensioner, idler, water pump, alternator, or power steering pump is siezed up or starting to seize. being your battery is bad I'm thinking probably the alternator is seized. hope this helps mike.

Have you tried to jump start it? Battery may power lights, radio, etc, but still not have enough power to crank over the engine. Try to jump it, or pull the battery out and bring it to a parts store for a free check to determine batter condition. It could be low charge due to alternator not charging, or other problems. !st thing to do is check the battery out. Let me know how you make out, I'll help further if you need more info after checking the battery.

SOURCE: Pontiac G6 radio change problem
I had the same problem. You have to buy a bunch of extra parts and even then it probably still wont work. I ended up buying an aux input and hooking it up myself. It took 20 min and sounds great.

some G6 do not have power streeing pumps
they have ELECTRIC POWER STEERING
all depends on the engine
2.2 4cylinder have electric
3.5V6 can have one or the other
if you have a V6 then you will see the power steering cap through the engine cover on the right side if it has hydralic power steering
