You have a 4 cyl engine so there is only one bank.
The sensors are in front of and after the catalytic converter in the exhaust pipe.

SOURCE: where is the computer located for a poniac sunfire

Hello Cheryl.
The powertrain control module is mounted in the engine compartment on the right side beside the strut tower towards the firewall.
It is rare to have a problem with these. I have many customers with these model cars and have never replaced one.
I hope you find your problem quickly.
Best of the festive season to you.

What place is the bank 1 censor 3 on a s10 98 located

  • Bank 1 is referring to the side of the motor with cylinder 1, usually the driver side. And it would be the 3rd sensor back. Its probably not dual exhaust so its just referring to the rear o2 sensor located after the catylitic converter. Hope this helps.

2004 pontiac vibe. both o2 sensors have been replaced and the code was cleared. engine lite came back on. its saying p0042 bank1. what else can it be.

There is 2 system in O2 sensor one is the sensor itself
and the other one is the heater
the code you have means the heater is not working look for the fuse or find out why heater is not working
don't put any anti seize lubricant on O2 sensor no ground for heater
hope it help

Were is the bank 2 censor located

Oxygen sensors are always numbered like this:

Bank 1 sensor 1
Bank 2 sensor 1
Bank 1 sensor 2
Bank 2 sensor 2

some manufacturers use a kind of shorthand that reads different, but means the same thing:
Sensor 1/1 or O2s 1/1
Sensor 2/1 or O2s 2/1
Sensor 1/2 or O2s 1/2
Sensor 2/2 or O2s 2/2

Bank 1 is always the side of the engine where cylinder number 1 is located and, of coarse, Bank 2 is the opposite side.
On a 4 cylinder engine, there is only 1 bank and it is always referred to as Bank 1.

Sensor 1 is always the upstream sensor (The one located BEFORE the catalytic converter)
Sensor 2 is always the downstream sensor (the one that is located AFTER the catalytic converter.

Most GM engines have #1 cylinder located on the left bank, (or Driver's Side) of the engine,

Yes they can surely cause an misfire.

I cannot understand your statement "wich sensor is in bank 2"

If i am not wrong you are asking which sensor is present in bank 2 .

The 4th O2 sensor is located in bank 2

G'day mate well lets start with the O2 (oxygen )censor , it is in the exhaust and does clog up give a spiked reading ( on a graph or multimeter ) instead of a smooth transition like a wave flowing, this will tell all the other censors that the fuel flow/mixture/quality is bad , the rest try to compensate by raising the mixture changing timming etc, get the O2 censor done 1st then go from there, it should calm down once this is done,

02 censor

Your car should have two O2 sensors. One will be located after your catalytic converter. The other one should be located before your catalytic converter somewhere between your headers and your cat. Rarely, on some vehicles, there's a 3rd O2 sensor which is located also somewhere between the catalytic converter and the headers.
