I drive the volvo to work every day witch is 32 miles one way. This miss has ben there for about 2 years, I noticed it a couple times when I stopped for gas,When I started the car and pulled away it would start to act like it was out of gas and would have no power but as it would pick up speed and rpms would hit 2500 the miss would start to go away the higher the rpms the better it would run but it don't have to be when I get gas it seems to do it on wet rainy days it normally does it all the way to work. I checked the distributor it looked ok, I just don't want to replace a bunch of parts and have a pile of money into sensors for no reason!

SOURCE: power loss under load on hills and from take off

The codes stored in the engine computer are needed to further diagnose this problem. To check the codes, go here!

Retrieve the codes in terminal A2. (and A6 if you have a non-turbo)

List the codes here and I can assist you further.

SOURCE: Can you lock a '91 740 volvo without the key?

We have the '90 940, have you tried this; when the kids are piling out we reach through the back door and push down the lock button on the drivers door, this locks all the doors without the key...also helps if you have an armful of bags..just make sure your keys aren't still inside!!

SOURCE: '88 Volvo 740GLE won't get past 30 mph

Horrible squeal. If my 740 made a horrible squeal I would be upset also. These ideas - timing belt has somehow slipped out of time. Easy check. One of the other belts are slowing the engine any of them can squeal: The alternator belt The power steering belt The fan belt. Does the noise occur only when driving? Does the engine sound normal when revving in neutral? Does turning on the lights or a/c affect the noise? Does the power steering work when car is standing? Is the squeal heard when turning the wheels. A logical diagnosis will identify and eliminate these easy to fix problems.

It is a right hand thread and you usually need an impact gun. Take the fan out of the way, to give you more room, I have found that helps.

Near the firewall there is a dipstick for the AT. Start your car and let it warm up then pull the stick, wipe it off then re-insert it and then take a reading.

Volvo 740(1990) i replaced my coil and change the battery, it started, then went 50 yards the it died and now it just turns over, but won`t start, is there anything else it could be? thanks

Many things can cause this on your 740. Fuel pump, fuel pump relay, rpm sensor, MAF sensor, radio suppression relay. I've never seen the coil fail on these era Volvo's, ever. And I've diagnosed at least 50 of these with stalling problems. Check the codes, and when it wont start, check for spark and fuel pressure, you're likely missing one of them.

Volvo s80 t6 shifting problem

The cheap fix: Speed sensor connected to the Transmission Control Module (TCM). That screws up the engine control module and could throw you into limp home mode. Expensive fix: Transmission control module. Start with the speed sensor. Suggest that to your mechanic and get a second opinion before changing out the TCM. It's a simple plug and swap, but the module is expensive. I bought a spare on Ebay for my Volvo for $10. The TCU, I believe, lives under the right front kick panel, at least that's where it is on my 740.

All belts came off , 1986 740 gle 4 cly. with air nedd to know diagram

On the 92, the belt closest to the engine goes around the power steering pump, water pump, and crankshaft pulley.

The second belt goes around the alternator and the crankshaft pulley.

The third belt goes around the a/c and crankshaft pulley.
