My starter was rebuilt by someone in the buisness for than 40 years I trust his product, now all of a sudden im having problems turning the ignition over, I have to keep peddle to the floor and slowly bring it up till it starts, so Im thinking it's just the battery.

Does the engine turn over fast when you try to start it are dose it turn slow . if it is slow to turn over it could be the starter are the battery has a bad cell and also make sure the alt is charging .

I have a similar problem. My engine shuts down after about five minutes..
Measuring the current into the distributor(ignition) reveals a jump in current from 3 to 40 amps.
The power lead is red on white and the ignition lead is yellow on black and goes into a connector under the dash where the ignition wire changes to white on black. Three different wiring diagrams give no clue to how this problem is caused.
Also, the starter is good for only a few turns after the engine warms up.
the next thing you should have it check is your ignition switch, it may not be reaching the contact for the starter. with the ignition switch at the rear part is a plastic cap where the wires are connected and initiates contact when you turn the key.
The starter is not disengaging back. When you start the car the end of the starter pushes out, then retracts again. find out why it is doing that. This could be a mechanical problem. I dont think it is electrical at all.
Starters go bad whether they are two hours or two years old. If you know how, try jumping the starter by crossing the power connection with the egnition on. If your headlights turn on then it's not the battery and I would get another starter. If it is close to the year mark, you may get a replacement starter for free.
Had the same problem with an '88 Camry. Replaced the battery, distributor, and starter, but it didn't fix the problem. Then, a few years later, when the battery was getting old and tired, I replaced it with a more expensive _heavy-duty_ battery. That helped quite a bit. It didn't totally fix the problem, but made it a lot less frequent.
A mechanic I trust told me that non-OEM replacement rebuilt starters pretty much all have substandard wiring, with bad spots in the windings. A heavy-duty battery maybe cranks out enough extra amps to mostly compensate for this.
When the car does not crank can you hear a click from the engine compartment? If you can, that is the Starter solenoid ( a relay) trying to connect the starter to the battery.
Here's how the system works. When you turn the ignition key to start your car, the ignition switch sends 12 volts to the starter solenoid (which is mounted on the top of the starter). Because the starter uses so much current from the battery, the solenoid is used to connect the starter directly to the battery. At this point your car should crank over. What happens lots of time with the starter is that certain parts inside the starter gradually wear out and get dirty, and the starter cannot operate in this condition. HOWEVER, Depending on where the starter stops after it has done it's job, determines whether or not it will crank the next time you try it.
I speak from personal experience since I just went thru this exact excerise 2 weeks ago with my F150 pickup. When I turned the ignition switch to start, all I got was a click, click. I took a hammer out of my truck and gave the starter a couple of swats. not real hard, just medium. It worked several times. I finally broke down and bought a starter. (a rebuilt one) BTW, a new starter comes with a new solenoid already attached.. For my 94 F150 it cost me $100.00.
You might check around at some auto salvage yards and see if you could get a used one. it would be cheaper but might get you thru until you can afford a rebuilt one.

I'm having the same problem. The dealership keeps telling me it's the starter. I've replaced starter and still have the same problem. I have had all the wiring and new key swith put in and still have the same problem. I guess were in the same boat!!!
