Question about 1991 Chevrolet K2500
Dash lights and headlights flicker dim then normal. This occasionally affects the radio also.I sometimes hear a clicking noise coming from somewhere in the dash when this occurs. I have had a problem with rats or squirrels chewing on the wires.

This is most likely a problem with your Passlock anti-theft system which is known issue with these cars. Passlock is a "passive" anti-theft system, which means that it will disable your ability to start the car if it thinks there is a problem. The three components that can cause this are: 1) Ignition Switch, 2) Ignition Cylinder, 3) Body Control Module (computer). The dealer is the only one who can solve this problem (unless you can bypass it, but it is not that easy). Estimated repair from most dealers is $800 and up.

SOURCE: Headlight and dash light flicker
this is true ! Usually the strap will run from either the ground post or sometimes the the top mount bolt , to the body . Look at the ground straps that run from the engine to the frame and engine to body . Chances ar one of these straps are broke . They are located from the bottom behind the engine near the firewall , and on the passenger side of the engine underneath . I had a 2004 venture that the interior and display lights went out , a control module in the dash that ran the display , daylights , and cooling fan went out ! traded it in soon after !!! Good advice !

There are two possible cause of dim display.
On the deluxe trim level of the Impala the is light sensor. When the sensor mis-calibrated the light will not be at the level you want.
As a test, use a small flash light and aim to the sensor and see is the circuit act according it.
The dimmer light is a VERY CHEAP component. I will glow it out with compress air 1st. Turn the dial back and forth 20-30 time in rapid motion will help remove unwanted carbon,
Use a eletrical contact cleaner to clean all contacts.
Is the headlight in OEM specification?
After market headlights may draw more amperage and cause low power for smaller bulbs.
