Check the passenger footwell for signs of water entry.the convenience control unit is located in there and can get full of water and cause current draw.also have you got a non gen radio fitted.it is common for them not to be wired up correctlly.worth a look

I have a 2005 VW Passat (turbo charge) and the battery keeps going dead. the car will run for a week sometimes two weeks and then all of a sudden while parked over night or sometimes for hours the battery...

Just wanted to let you know to check the vanity mirror lights on the back of the visor. Sometimes they stay on and when they are on with the mirror closed, its hard to tell. Also, the regulator in the altenator could be going out. When it starts to go it does exactally what you described. Its either working or not so it can be tricky to diagnose. when you got your altenator tested it was probally working but stopped soon after and then started working again. Eventually it will go out and not work again if that is whats happening. Hope this helps.

Vw passat 1.8t battery problem?

Hi

Either your battery has just given up the ghost,........ Is it the original, and now 10 yrs old ?
Or your Alternator is not charging enough, to replenish what is used.

Have battery tested first, if OK, then the alternator belt tension, and alternator for correct output charging rate.

If all these shows no faults, your starter is then suspect.

Good Luck !

A FixYa would be nice thanks !....John.

VW Passat failing to start/security alarm issues are they linked?

Usually on the passat, if the immobiliser is on, there is a yellow key symbol flashing on the clocks as you try and start it. Do the doors unlock with the remote key? If no flashing light and the key fob working, i would be looking at possibly starter relay. This is either located under the fuse box or under a plastic cover near the windscreen under the bonnet.
