In the instrument panel there's this yellow light of a car with flashes coming from the back while i'm driving

You have a bulb in the rear of your car that is blown. Try turning the car off then back on without pressing the brakes. If the light does not come on, press your brake pedal down and then check to see if the light appears again. If it doesn't, your brake lights are okay. Next turn your park/headlights on. If the light appears in the panel, you have a blown rear bulb. The light will come on if any of the rear bulbs are blown so you will have to visually check it while the lights are on to see which one is defective. It's best checked at night or right before sunset so you can easily see which bulb needs to be replaced.

Regular lights work but when u press brake only passenger brake light goes on, i changed the brake bulb which was bad but still no brake light when pushing brake on driver side

sounds like you have a short in the drivers side brake light. it may be due to corrosion in the bulb inlet.try cleaning the bulb socket itself with wd40 or add bulb grease to the bulb. you may have a broken wire to it also.check with a test light to confirm you have power to the bulb when brakes applied, this will take 2 people 1 to press brakes and1 to check for current with a test light at the tail light itself. you may only have corrosion in the brake light bulb socket,so,,do this 1st. with lights off,, remove the bulb on driversside, add a little bulb grease to your bulb, insert it into the bulb socket, and then remove the bulb again,do this 3 times, make sure the bulbs getting connection. then apply the brakes and see if the light comes on. thank you for choosing fixya.com

The brake lights in my volvo 240 dl (89) aren't coming on. Yet, when I press the brake pedal, I can hear the idle change pitch, as though the car is having to work to generate the power needed. Could this...

Brake booster is a vacuum device connected to the intake manifold. Pressing the brake pedal briefly changes the conditions in the manifold and is likely to affect engine idle speed.

A test lamp is more use than a voltmeter for those types of checks because it is low impedance and therefore draws a more useful amount of current which tends to test connections and provides a quick positive result.

The two wires from the brake light switch - one should be at battery potential and when connected to the other directly or via the stop lamp switch that supply should appear at the rear of the car when tested against an independent ground. If ok the fault is with the lamps, bulbs, connections or lamp grounds and if not ok the fault is the cable between the switch and the rear of the car.

It is important to ensure the bulbs are good by testing them independently. It isn't unknown for both to fail at the same time. The 380 and 382 bulb has internal fusing and can fail and still appear to be ok.

The switch is fine if the third brake light is functioning. Even though the tail lights work, the filament for the brake light can be burned out. Sometimes they look intact but are still burned out. Replece the bulbs.

Warning light on the dashboard

As far as the red light goes. You simply have a brake light bulb out.

The clicking is normal. Its the shift lock solenoid. When you press on the brake it lets you shift into gear.

Right tail light not working when pressing brake w/ lights on.

There should be at least 2 bulbs in the light assembly. One light is the light that is on when you turn on your headlights with out the brake pressed, the other light only lights up while you press on the brake. Make sure you are replacing the correct bulb. You may have been replacing the bulb that stays on. Your lights may be set up to turn off the light that stays on when the headlights are on while pressing the brakes.
