Most likely in the valve body. Without experience in transmissions I would not attempt. Should be performed by reputable trans shop

SOURCE: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix Gt not shifting into OD

this trans is the 4T65E. It needs a 4th clutch hub. The splines strip off around 120k or more because they weren't hardened from the factory. The new ones have the hardened splines. The trans needs to come out and be partially torn down. I've fixed alot of these. Change the EPC solenoid while you are there. They wear and hang up causing intermittent harsh shifts

You can drive them forever without changing the hub but you'll never have 4th gear

SOURCE: LOOKING FOR A FUSE BOX DIAGRAM FOR 2004 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GT

It's under the hood, on the driver's side, under a square, black box with a lightning symbol on it. Loosen the flower-shaped screw that holds the lid of the box down, remove the lid, flip it upside down and when you look at the inside of the lid, you'll see a map of all your car's fuses. There's also a fuse diagram on the very end of the dash, but it's accessible only when you open the driver's side door. When you're driving, that end of the dash is blocked by the closed door.

Where is the shift modulator on a 95 grand prix v6 301

Modulators are typically located on the side of the transmission. Look for a small diameter vacuum hose down there and follow to the transmission body. That is most likely the modulator.

Good Luck!

I need to change the Transmission control solenoid on my 04 pontiac grandprix 3.8L, 3800 series 3..do you have a diagram where i can locate it. also the transmission fluid was changed yesterday..the only...

Check or replace your TPS (throttle position sensor). The other reason for hard shift is a worn Boost valve and will need to be replaced, or a faulty transmission fluid EPC (electronic pressures control valve). Both Boost valve and EPC are located in the Valve Body and can be replaced with out dropping the valve body, but have to drop the transmission pan. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to answer any questions you may have.
