SOURCE: 2001 dodge 2500 4x4 high oil consumption

These are know for having a leaking gasket on the bottom of the intake that will cause oil consumption. To test for this take the pcv valve out of the passenger side valve cover and the crankcase filter out of the driver side. With the engine running put your thumbs over the holes in both valve covers. It should build pressure. If you feel it pulling a vacuum, the gasket is leaking. You have to remove the intake and flip it over on a bench to change the pan gasket on the bottom.

Transmission comes out of gear when you let up on gas. The engine will rev up but the transmission will not go in gear. It will finally go in gear but when you move & let up it will come out of gear.

It could be a couple of things. Could be a simple as shifter linkage bushing linkage, to a bent shifter linkage rod. Another "rare" possibility is a motor mount. If mount breaks, engine postion/angle changes and puts stress on everything from engine rearward.

1998 1500 cant feel the column shifter go between gears.

Sounds like a shift linkage issue. Some components thereof may be sticking from lack of lubrication, or worn out.
