Thumping on initial startup is the air flow damper. The computer tells the damper to position itself for fresh air flow each time you turn the key on. Very difficult to access this particular item. I would say remove glove compartment and turn the key on. You will be able to find the exact controller through that access. Now I actually removed the culprit and opened it up. A broken tooth on the servo motor gear was the failure. Instead of replacing the controller. I just cut the ground wire and placed a switch in the series. I leave it in the off position. No thumping.

SOURCE: fluid leaking onto the front passenger side floorboards.

2004 TB 60,000 miles. i was just told that the leaking fluid in my passenger side floorboard was do to a clogged up A/c hose. An A/C works by drying/ removing the moisture from the air inside the vehicle and cooling it. The accumulated fluid is usually evacuated under the vehicle which is what you see when people are stopped at a red light and there is dripping under their car. when a hose is blocked there is a vent that from some reason flows directly into the passenger side floor board. If you can not manually knock loose the block your probably going to have to take it to a mechanic.

Floor plug or plugs have fallen out most likely. There Should be some plastic plugs under the floor board outside. Look to visualy check to insure they are still in one piece.

A busted heater core will flood the passenger side floorboard when the heat is turned on.

Likely the drain hose for the A/C evaporator. Should be low on the passenger side firewall (looks like a little right angle stub hose if it's a v8, probably can only see it from below.

The passenger side floorboard gets wet =

is it only when the ac is on? there is a pan under the ac unit that has a hole in it to allow the condensation to empty. if that hole gets plugged it could cause the condensation to build up and back into the inside of that car. i unplugged mine and floor stayed dry

My lincoln started leaking radiator fluid once i turned on my heater, now it want stop unless car is off..

Where does it leak? If inside the car on the passenger side floorboard, then your heater core is leaking. If it is leaking under the engine on the passenger side of the car, you might just have a heater hose that goes from the radiator to the heater core that is leaking.

Good luck

2003 Ford Explorer. A/c blows cold, but not from front of vents

I have the 03 Expy with continuous rear air unit "clicking" or more accurately flapping of the air damper while the plastic gears in the 2L2H-19E616-AA grind away into toothlessness. Ford designed this unit to find the end of travel by jamming the motor to a stop and monitoring the current to determine when to stop applying voltage. That would probably be fine if the gears were designed to handle the jammed torque or the motor did not slip out of groove and continue turning and cracking the plastic gears.

There are two white colored boxes, one is for the temp plenum door, the other the upper/lower air flow. To be sure, do what I did, turn on the ignition, rear ac/heat and listen for the obnoxious click/thump as you move the temp control from full heat to full cool, you will know which part. Disconnect the electrical connector, four bolts and it is out!

Go to your dealer, part should be about $60 or less, look on line, lots of dealers sell for this or less on internet.

Running loud and thumping on floorboards

Your cat is on the passenger side of the vehicle,,, don't see how it's hitting the floor under your foot. Get another opinion. Could be a transmission mount or some other part that's bad, (even an exhaust pipe hanger, but those things would be transmitting thump, and would not be under your feet.If the shield on the cat is loose, I've used green wire ground clips made for grounding electrical junction boxes on home wiring systems (available at any home-depot in the electrical department for about $2.00 for a bag of about 15 clips) to re-attach the shield so it dosen't vibrate. It is not heavy enough to cause a thump though! Have someone else look at it!!!
