Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

I have a dodge durango 5.9L 2003 giving off codes P0456, P0700, P0441, P0562, and P0440....was driving down road car shut off and just clicks brand new battery, but won't start....I was told P9562 was system voltage low. Would any of these codes make it not start? Yes I'm a girl and no nothing about cars just wanted to get a rough idea so when I call mechanic or dealership I wanted to have a general understanding lol. Also I had someone tell me my engine could of locked up, but another mechanic said no because he could move something by hand....this chic is confused.

Here is the list.
Code 440 and 441 are for a problem with the vent for the gas tank.
Code 456 is for a leak in the vent system for the tank.
The computer vents the gas tank to the vapor canister several times per hour while the engine is running.
Code 700 is a general fault with the transmission or the trans control module.
Code 562 is for low voltage which can involve the computer or the alternator or both.
The codes starting with 4 would probably not cause the engine to die.
The 700 code could point to a shift problem but again would probably not cause the engine to not start.
The 562 code would mean the electrical system is below 12 volts which could cause your symptoms, you would need to check battery voltage and the alternator output.
Some of this could be as simple as a bad connection at the battery or something as expensive as a faulty computer.

I have a 2005 dodge grand carvan What do the codes p0700 and p0562 mean? and how do i fix it ?

P0700 is generic transmission code, transmission malfunction.. Have it read with a scanner to find the exact code. p0562 is battery voltage is low. Check positive and negative cables for corrosion and good connection. Also check the engine and body grounds. Make sure you have a engine to body strap/ground. They break. This could be the reason you're getting the p0700 code.

Engine code p0700 need help

It is possible that there are other causes, but if you just want to replace the output speed sensor:

it should be easy enough to find. it will be along the tail shaft pointing perpendicular to the drive shaft. It will have two wires for a harness. simply unplug the sensor, put a drop pan under it in case some fluid drops out. then just wrench it out, install the new one and hook everything back up. check fluid level if applicable... good luck
